Default Alternator Wiring

Well sweet simple down the the point. My engine harness alternator plug has 3 wires Blue, White/blue, and Black/Yellow. This plug new plug for the alternator has 4 wires White/green, White/blue, Black/yellow, White(well thats what it looks like no other colors on it). Can anyone help me figure out how to wire it up?

Well, we wont suggest to get your own damn repair manual, nobody expects you to have two of them since you may be dealing with two different Honda models of alternator or two different years of your model that may not be covered in one manual. By the way, do you have your own repair manual with wire diagram.

Does your library carry repair manuals. I made a post on another section of this Forum looking for someone with a good password to a certain library in Ohio. The have very good material online but they changed their website and the generic password I had no longer works.

Someone here will be able to help you before long, sorry, I have Mitchell on Demand but I have moved three times in the past couple of years so I have not relocated my discs yet. Been in storage for most of that time.

Can I ask what happened with the change to a 4 wire connector? Did you get an upgrade replacement Alt and cut the plug and wires from a scrap yard?

EDIT: HondaPartsHero posted the same time as me, I looked at his instructions, the next question is, are the two plugs the same size, if so, it sounds like the 4th wire is not needed but you still need to know what goes where, do you have to splice wires together. The instructions do not say how to splice a three wire to a four (if you need to splice), can you be more specific of your exact scenario please.

I had an extra harness laying around with the plug that fit the alt, so i cut it off, and am trying to figure out if i can wire it up to the harness in the car. the alt came off my brothers old b18 before he swapped to a b20. and trying to save money without buying a new alt.

EDIT: Ok, well I'm not trying to cut off my old plug I was wondering if i could us a male connectors on the new plug and just directly hook it up to the old plug. or will I have to cut splice wires?

You have three wires but does the original alternator have four terminals, if so, it sounds like it is a one for one swap, pin for pin. But that is what I seem to understand, lets get more help here.

That is what I got from reading the other post. Can you see any letters on the back of the alt telling you what terminal is what.
