Default 94 civic with a b18A1, car starts and runs but after it heats up it won't start

I have a ex with a LS/vtec, motor is the B18a1. Every day the car starts fine but after a long drive to work if I stop at a gas station or even at work the car won't crank for about 30 mins. When I turn the key everything lights up normal but I only hear the click in my dashboard... I thought it was a bad alternator at first, I got it checked and it was sending too many amps to the battery so I just changed it 2 days ago. Also my CEL is on and the 02 sensor is basically melted.

I have read the problem could be from a neutral safety switch mainly or bad injectors, bad fuel pump, starter solenoid, starter, ignition coil lol. I have also read I might need a starter heat shield cause my headers are so hot. My resources are limited for about 2 weeks, I would get a diag test but that's half my money and wouldn't have much left for parts. This guy seemed to possibly pinpoint what is happening even though its for a ford http://www.novaresource.org/starter.htm

Also when I pulled over last night because I smelled smoke from the engine bay, the alternator was sparking up but it was a little dark so I couldn't see where the smoke was coming from. Smelled like a belt was burning and sounded like plastic bags being rubbed together over 3k rpm

thanks for any input

What have you tried so far? I heard wrapping the starter will help but it will only be a temp fix for a few months

Be sure to check all your major grounds and connections. See if they are lose or corroded. Also check your wires, see if any have grounded to each other.( like a power wire on a negative wire or body panel)

Wouldn't that affect the initial start up though and not just after running for a while? I will check the grounds and I will actually take a picture of the battery cables too, the guy that had it before me had 3 wires for each the power and the ground. Here is a video after I just got done driving it for about 25 mins, the initial click is me turning the key and then the one right after is the noise I hear from the dash

Here is another video. My rad fan automatically comes on when I put the key in but there is a clicking that is coming from the fuse box

Lol I don't have any friends, I just moved here and I have been out of the Honda scene for about 7 years so I'm basically doing this from memory

have you checked your main relay? it sounds like it may be a good culprit to check

The main relay clicks and then it sounds like the fuel pump is priming and then nothing. And I just checked about an hour ago and the car went to start and basically was really sluggish, I think the alternator is burnt out, there is a little black tar on it coming out of the belt side, I had to jump the car and now the alternator shoots sparks and sounds like **** when the car is running. I just changed it 2 days ago though... Its late and my car is loud so I will post a video of how it starts and what it sounds like tomorrow

I had that same problems but I read something the help me out, star from the dizzy, gas filter, starter to the fuel pump. In my case was the fuelpum and lack fuel presure, so I got me a fuel gage regulator. This will help you figure if your pump is doing it job.
Don't buy a sheap starter they will go out in less then a year, I learned my lesson, and then I spend a couple more bucks for something more relyable...

Im going to do that but at the moment I think my alternator is fried, so far from everything I have read its mainly a ground problem or fuel pump

It's the ignition coil. When the coil heats up the secondary windings inside the coil don't saturate if the resistance in the primary windings are to high.

I checked my main relay it was fine so I will just change the coil because they are pretty cheap and see if it works
