Default y1 w/lsd or ys1 gsr for turbo?

which one would be better? i am putting together a junkyard turbo kit. i know the ys1 is better for allmotor. but i think that the y1 will be better for turbo. and turbo is my goal. even though my car will be n/a for a few months i don't want to have to switch the tranny from ys1 to y1 when i get my turbo. any help discussing this would be great. thanks curt

i also just order a 6 puc clutch for the y1.

no body knows? i did do a search and all i found was stuff about ys1 ls or s1, j1. i guess i'll just go with the y1 and see how it is. because i think the lsd will be better for the turbo.

if the ys1 is a true gsr trans go with that. it has the bigger inputshaft, and is tighter geared than the y1, plus you can get parts for it easily.

it is a 92 gsr it came with my motor. it has a slight grind in third gear but when i changed the tranny fluid it was pretty bad. so maybe it will go away if i put in some gm tranny fluid. i think i might just use the y1 for a while and see how i like it. and if i don't like it i could always sell it.

since u already ordered a clutch kit for y1 , that means u have to use y1 tranny
cuz u can not use it in ys1

well all i bought was the 6 puc. i didn't get the pp yet. i also have a stock clutch that would work for the ys1. but i think i'll go for the y1. i just want to try out the lsd.

the ys1 with a quaife would be my choice.
