Re: what's torque specs for AN/npt fittings? (2000vsm)
NOt very much, the AN fitting seals by having the right angles (37 degress) rather than tightness between threads. Do it until you have about 1/16 to 1/8" of space between the red socket and the swivel nut on the blue compression fitting.
This is taken from the installation intruction for my oil return kit,
Mark the end of the red compression fitting before installing the blue nut fitting with a marker, you should not have anymore than 1/16" of the line portion that backed out once the blue fitting is completely assembled
Use a vise, then tightened the blue compression fitting,
then you're done..

thx for that.. i needed that but that wasn't my original question
i mean like you bolt the NPT on a T or the BSPT on the block, how much do i tighten that.. also for AN fittings, like the one on the oil pan to the fitting, how tight? thanks

the fitting is Goodridge, which is what I carries.
as far as the torque specs, do it until all threads are used on the AN fittings, on the BSPT fitting to the block, do it until it turns all the way, leaving you with no threads expose. You can really torque it since you have to use a wrenches, not a socket with torque wrench.
Snuggle fit is a good indication of tigthness

ok i don't wnat to kill my only fitting, i just put my NPT fitting into my BSPT/NPT adapter and i can't thread all the way the NPT part, but it's tight and getting really hard to turn... i guess stop eh? it's got like 2 threads left on the npt

that's what it supposed to do, "T" at the end stands for Tapered, the fitting is tapered and have different diameter from one end of the thread to the other. That's how they seals and that's the reason why they're not re-usable.

ok so i guess i shouldn't attempt to take it out?
are you sure it's not reusable, then how come we can take out the stock oil sender and put another fitting inside?
you saying male is not reusable?

Actually, the T stands for thread. National Pipe Thread. "Pipe" threads are tapered

make sure when you cut the line you use a masking tape, so you don't frayed the the line, then put a little dab of oil on the lines so it makes it easier to slide the red fitting on the lines.

If he was referring to BSP-T, then you are wrong. The 'T' stands for tapered, because there is also a BSP fitting that is not tapered. I, however, do think the T in NPT is Thread...so, two words that begin with 'T', go figure
