I just bought a new garrett 57 trim. Was shooting for 400 with it but if i could hit 450 i would be happy but i was wondering at what power level is the 57 trim good for and when does adding more boost take it out of its effectiveness range.

Usually around 500 crank hp so you should be able to get 450 whp pushing it.

i made 440+@16psi on a dynapack with a 9.5:1CR B20/vtec on 94oct pump. 57-trim .63/ar...i love this turbo...


but power output depends on many factors not only the turbo itself.

what engine/head combo you running?
what intake/cams?
what turbo manifold?
size of d/p and exhaust?
inter cooler size/efficiency?


with the right combo of parts you should easily make 400whp

ran same turbo on my old stock ls turbo, made 337 and hi 200's for tq, few years back, only on 13-15psi. I love this turbo as well, for street. It spools up so quick, and as long as your not maxing it out, itll hold till red line!!

little over 400 shouldnt be a problem, depending on the a/r i think they can be good for up wards of almost 500hp

Good to know people are making good power on them... i just built my block and got all the way to my tuner and forgot to put in the new map sensor and he didnt have an extra one on him....wasted my money

oh well... I ran 2 ebay turbos before this and lasted 3k miles and this last one only made it 300 miles and 2 launches at full boost...lol

i made over 500 to the wheel on pump with this turbo dynapack so it all depends on your setup.

How i do it is read compressor maps to ballpark it.Then usually what i do is look to see how much air it moves. My super60 moves 28lbs/min so i multiply by 10. 280 is the highest it could support (out of the efficient range) so it would be good for 220 -250hp efficiently.

But I might get flamed for it, but thats my little shortcut.
