Default What should I do with this 84.5mm B18C block? - gross pics

Well, I finally decided I would slap all of my parts together so I can sell the Teg. This is an 84.5mm sleeve job that was done back in '01. This engine has never been used. After I wasted megaloot on international phone calls trying to get my block returned to me I received this pile of crap. I thought I could clean the block so I put it in stored since I didn't want to deal with this slow *** company again.

I have already cleaned quite a bit of the sealant off of the block but after realizing that I will not be able to get the excess sealant out of the waterjackets because of the built-in braces so I am stumped. I was totally shocked when I removed someof the plugs in the block. The goop in the waterjackets is totally UNSAT! Sealant covered all of the main bearing journals and was on the outside of the block too.

History:
Joined a groupbuy.
Paid the loot and then contacted the company that would be performing the sleeving with questions about shipping, block cleaning, and turn around time.
I told the company I had access to a military engine cleaning facility BUT I wasn't sure when I would be able to use it. They told be to send an extra $50 with the return shipping cost and they would hot tank it for me. They also told me to send atleast (1) piston with the block since I wanted the reinforced 84.5mm sleeves. Turn around time was supposed to be no more than 2 weeks once it arrived at their shop.

3 weeks later I called to check on the block because USPS verified that the block had been received. Company rep says my block had not been received. While I was on the phone I sent an email with pics of the block's serial number, pics of the shipping receipt with the block's serial number, pics showing how the block and piston were packaged, and a screenshot of the military postal computer's confirmation that the package had been received. After several ummm's, well's and "let me checks" the rep on the phone said he would email or phone after my block is located. I called the next day to check and the person I spoke to acted as if they didn't kow what I was talking about. I called 3 days later and got the same treatment. This went on for 3 weeks!! All they had to say was say, "we are backed up and we will contact you as soon as the block is completed", instead if giving me the jerk-around. I am assuming that since they were so behind schedule they skipped out on cleaning the block (I PAID FOR THAT SERVICE) and let a monkey install the sleeves. I can not hot tank the block because it will void the warranty on the block.

Options:
Contact the original sleever and see what they can be done to clean up this mess?
Send the block back to the sleever and ask them to remove the sleeves?
Throw it away and send a new block to a different company?
Put it back in storage for 5 more years and pray the **** falls off of it?
Forget about it and keep driving my other toys?

Oh yeah, shut up about the time frame! I just want to build this damn thing without having to spend unnecessary loot. I already have 84.5mm roller waves, Eagle rods, ARP studs, new oil pump, new OEM bearings, and every damn thing else for the block.

Whoa, don't tell me they sleeved a block with Red RTV...Looks Solid

You should have it pressure tested for leaks before you assemble it. Had to learn that the hard way on
non-Darton sleeved blocks.

I am not worring about leaks. For now I am worried about chucks of sealant blocking water or oil passages after they break off. I already have an engine cleaning kit but it's going to be impossible for me to get all of this crap out of the block. This is a guaranteed engine failure. I have a couple more bare blocks that are ready to be shipped to the Darton, Benson or ERL but I want to see what can be done to salvage this time bomb!

Your worried about voiding the warranty on that peice of trash? that was done 5 years ago and probably out of warranty anways. I say HOT TANK the **** out of it in your military engine cleaning facility. And then have a reputable engine shop measure and double check every aspect of the block.

Hot tanking will not removed the sealant. It has to be scraped off and the block has a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship.

I wonder if they will consider this bad craftsmaship?

I am trying to give the sleever a chance to reply to me in private. I really am not expecting too much to happen since this hack job was done 5 years ago. Just hoping they will HONOR their WARRANTY for CRAFTMANSHIP since this is an UNUSED block.
