Default What is the Safe limit of the "Effective compression ratio" on a B16a ??

HI Guys
I have just registered with the forum. Nice to be part of the Honda Tech community

I have a question relating to the Compression Ratio of My to be Boosted B16a Engine.
I was thinking of Using a 2mm Inline Pro Head Gasket to lower the CR to Around 9.0:1 .

But after reading around i have realised it may not be of benefit to me based on the "Effective Compression Ratio" Principle (The sum of cars compression + forced induction Pressure)

This principle suggests that by lowering the CR i will have to raise the boost to a much higher level to compensate to get a similar power level.
But with the added disadvantages of producing more Lag as a result.
it seems counter productive

1) Will it be safe to run 1 Bar (14 P.S.I) on a stock b16a on 98 RON ??

2) And DO i really need the INLINE PRO gasket based on the "Effective Compression Ratio" Principle ??

3) What are the benefits of using the Inline pro gasket to lower the CR with a higher Boost level ???

THANKS

i can answer your first question..when you boost the b16, it isnt on how much boost it can take, its horsepower,a stock b16 can handle about 300 hp max,so if that 14.5 is 300 hp or less, you are fine

Thanks

The Turbo i am using is Rated at 300 PS .
I have seen a dyno with the same Turbo But with an Internal wastegate .
Making 300 PS (around 296 BHP) and that was with 1 Bar (14 PSI) and No Low CR Head Gasket .

The Japanese tend to quote power in PS not BHP.Alot of people don't realise this.
300 ps is around 296 BHP and yes its at the wheels on 98 Ron

Maybe he is in Japan? Leave the guy alone, it's like if we were to go on one of their sites we would say PSI and Pounds and they would be like WHAT? YOu mean Kilograms and Bar, KG/cm2 etc etc. Come one!

I thought this was an international board.
I was quoting from the HKS USA site (as in the one in America)
If you have a look on there you will see the US does use the PS Value.

have a look http://www.hksusa.com/categories/?id=1093

I noticed you guys quote in BHP which is why i also converted the PS value to BHP so there would be no problems but .......hay

BTW Boostfed 616WHP Damm

I would say with a good tune the b16 will hold 300whp just fine.

how come no one on honda-tech can realize that boost/pressure makes heat and heat melts pistons. U can run over 10lbs on stock internals, but its not IF it will blow. Sure 600 people on here will tell u they ran 15lbs for a year or two or whatever, but they sold their souls, its a matter of time. sorry that doesnt do much for the compression question.

Yes you can run 15 psi on a stock engine. But you need a good working engine and most importantly a good tune. All day, everyday...
