Default Vortech Supercharger ~ Cooling the charge

I have the Vortech on my Honda CRX B16 SIR I and need to find a way cool the charge.

The Snow Performance water/methanyol kit looks ideal due to its size and the control it has with boost.

Any other suggestions for cooling the charge? Anyone know of other kits or are they pretty much the same, just brand is different.

Intercooler piping seems like a maze that would have to be designed and the stock Vortech aftercooler, which I have, would requires to much room.

My set up is:

JDM B16 SIR I
Vortech SC
10-12 lb pulley
Z Dyne
450 cc injectors
255 Walboro
Skunk2 Cam Gears

water/alcohol to air is the only way w/o a whole ton of unnecessary piping....

Intercooling would be a maze and a half, and would probably kill any kind of power you're making with the colder temps.

I know the meth/alcohol injection doesn't do **** for the roots blower, so I'm not entirely sure how it will do with the Vortech. I fear it would be the same outcome. Honda's don't seem to respond to it at all, it's more of a GM/Trans Am mod.

Just build a water to air intercooler. If cooling air was as easy as spaying water into it I would save a whole bunch of money on my air conditioning.
Angelia, Give us a call. We'll build it for you.

We made 40 RWHP on an 03 cobra spraying methanol through the blower, before we touched the timing or added any more boost. After more timing and boost we added nearly 100 RWHP to his pump gas tune.

As for Hondas not responding to meth, that's a crock of ****. Remember the car jdogg tuned a few years ago that was daily driven on pump gas with meth injection that ran 27 psi from an SC61? Yeah, meth really doesn't work well on hondas though. Or maybe, just maybe, it's the fact that nobody on these boards runs methanol injection to prove it doesn't work. That would be like saying a twin screw blower just wouldn't work on hondas because nobody on H-T has had success with one, even though nobody on H-T has even tried one.

A Cobra is not a honda, so what point did that make? He's also not running a rediculous amount of boost and causing HUGE upsurges of heat through his Vortech, so the methanol injection wouldn't be as beneficial as it was for 27psi through a turbo. Read what I said again jackass, and then relate it to what you have to say. MANY people have run alcohol/meth injection through JRSC (aka ROOTS BLOWER) and had little to no increase in power, even at 12-14psi. I never said it didn't work, I just said it doesn't work effectively, which means there are better ways to cool intake temps and to save the money he'd spend on a meth/alcohol injection to cool a mere 10psi on his vortech.

Let me rephrase, meth/alcohol injection isn't worth your money unless you're running 27psi through an SC61. Happy?

Edit: Hit up LHT, they do great work. You may also find that routing air to the intake point will net you a couple more WHP, so try that. Other ideas would be to insulate as much as you can to keep the charge as cool as possible as it enters the engine. You can spray meth/alcohol if you want, but it probably won't net you much more than a couple of whp. It's up to you, good luck.

They have more reasonable pricing on similar WI kits. I am installing one on a Jetta Vr6 with a Vortech V1 S trim next month. I will try and get before and after numbers with the WI.
