Default valve seal or oil rings

Ok i have did some reading but jus need a lil more help to pin point the problem for a friend.
he has a built 84mm gsr turbo. and just recently his car began to smoke a blue/white smoke and u can smell the smell of burning oil. so when he start his car up in the morning it smokes some but once he drives it partial throttle it goes away until he decels, then u see the smoke again, once he is sitting at a light a cloud of smoke comes from the exhaust. so w i told him to get on it to see if it smokes and it blows a small puff of smoke then it doesnt smoke while he is in boost. can someone help me pin point this.

I am having the same exact issue and it isnt my turbo its the valve seals.Did you do a compression check or any other things to check and make sure it isnt the turbo or oil rings?

ive got oil in my charge pipe. is that bearing leaking or is it possible to over tighten the turbo after clocking it? Can the return line be too restrictive. FUSTRATED!!!

It wouldn't smoke on initial startup in the morning if the turbo were bad because the parts aren't hot enough to burn the oil leaking from the seals. Sounds more like valve seals to me. They are cheap and easy to replace, so I would start there rather than look for a turbo rebuild kit.
