Default Turbo d15b smoking HELP!

Ok so i have a turbo d series that i put together. It has been running great for almost a year now. It always would smoke just for a bit on start up until i drove like a 100 meters then i wouldn't smoke at all for the duration of my drives. Just the other day i noticed that my car was smoking when it idles? when im driveing it doesn't smoke at all. Its black smoke. If im driveing, stop and get out of my car and watch the tail pipe there is no smoke at first. After a minute or 2 i can tell the its starting to smoke. The longer the car idles the worst it gets. If i begin to drive after idleing for a while out comes alot of smoke but only for a couple seconds and then you can't notice it any more????? PLZ HELP.

Im not the greatest with turbos but im thinking turbo seals? Compression is good!

First of all, what are you using for fuel managment?

Does it smoke when you go WOT?

Check Coolant, Oil, Oil level, Compression/Leakdown, and check for oil in the intercooler pipes.

If everything is A.OK then I dont think you have too much to worry about.

white smoke = coolant
blue smoke= oil
black smoke= running rich

Im using hondata stage 4B tuned by a local shop that is quite good.

No it does not smoke when at WOT.

Coolant is good! Oil is good, goes down stightly by the time i need an oil change. Compression is good. I havn't done a leak down... how much should one of these cost? And i have yet to check the oil in the intercooler pipes but i will get back to you on that.

The car runs flawless its just that i hate it smoking when im in a traffic jam or i have to sit at a light.

The smoke is either black or blue. But i think its oil being burnt off, at least thats what is smells like.

Thanks for your imput guys. How hard is it to replace valve guides.

id say your rings are worn or valve guides.

leakdown test and compression test are advisable. also keep an eye on the oil level.

it's rings, nothing you can do now, just ride it out until it blows. you running a catch can?

Edit: could very possibly be the turbo too, check you charge pipes for oil. When my turbo seals went if I got under the hood and hit the throttle wide open for a second and then let go it would let smoke out. Also when using engine braking down hills and it smokes, that could be turbo seals too.
