Icon2 Top Mount Vibration

I have been tackling a big vibration issue going on with my car. It is an integra chassis and the car was running great all motor, I got a custom top mount turbo kit fabbed up and now I have an intense vibration that occurs. With no turbo components installed except the top mount manifold, as the car is revved, at about 3500rpm there is a vibration and I can see my manifold literally vibrate at the farthest point away from the engine. The manifold is very strong, schedule 10 stainless. We tried the manifold on another integra and there was no vibration at all, telling me there's an issue with the car and not the manifold. The car has hasport 62a street mounts and avid solid torque mounts. I have checked all the bolts and everything is tight. When swapping the turbo manifold out and putting my header on, the intense vibration is no longer there. I am perhaps thinking I may need to get stiffer motor mounts because the other cars with this same setup use stiffer mounts and have no vibration. Anyone have any ideas or experience this issue before when using top mount manifolds?

I have this same issue at 2700rpm with tubular topmount hx35 ls vtec in a hatch. I also have 62 hasport mounts. I had a spa cast topmount and did not have this problem. The only thing that I switched was the manifold and downpipe now it vibrates. What mounts were in the car you test fitted it in and it didn't vibrate?

once you get everything mounted up it should subside some or completely. You sometimes have to take the bad with the good though. My car rattles everywhere im also running 94A urethane in my hasport mounts so yeah its a rattle box

It's more than just a rattle. It's more like the whole dash shaking. Once I pass 2700 rpm it is smooth. I think I'm going to build a bracket from the cylinder head to the turbine housing. When the car is at an idle the motor does not move but the turbo has a slight vibration. I double checked all the bolts and they are all tight. Has anyone done this? If so do you have any pics?

The dash isn't going to shake from a manifold vibration. What's mounts are in the car

The mounts are causing the interior vibrations.... you'd be amazed at how much will go away by making sure all attachment points are tight...

I have solid mounts in my s13 with my sr20, dash rattled like a bitch until I found some loose bolts

I've seen this happen several times with top mounts. You will not get rid of it by changing motor mounts or tightening anything. You will have this as long as that kit is there. I tried everything from motor mounts to changing flywheels, heim joint braces etc.. Softer oem mounts made it more livable but it still sucks. The heavy weight hanging off the front if the motor creates a high amplitude vib frequency at certain rpms

You can brace the turbine inlet flange to the head flange, that's about it.

I have already had the mounts on it and I'm used to all the squeaks and rattles. I switched the manifold and downpipe only and now I get this issue. That's what steers me away from it being the mounts. Although, I will go back and make sure everything is tight again.

Your last sentence pretty much nailed it for me. I'm still hoping bracing it will help.

sometimes you have to just take the bad with the good. you want to make more power and had a stiff engine mount but you dont want the vibration ? Its going to happen reguardless of what you do. You have to live with it and POSSIBLY find ways to reduce it or go back to a mild setup with a cast manifold or switch to a ramhorn tubular. The ramhorn will make same power as topmount just harder to work on and not as nice IMO

I agree with everyone above. I have the same issue with my Peakboost topmount setup. running Hasport mounts. I get a resonance through car around 3000rpm just as the vibration gets to certain frequency. Although it does not stick around very long 3-400rpm maybe, then its fine. It is what it is, comes with the territory of the setup. If you arent getting any vibration or resonance at idle or during WOT in high RPM's. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Understood. Thank you for helping. I think your missing the fact though that it's not just a normal vibration as expected from stiffer motor mounts. So yes I am trying to possibly find a way to make it better. If it doesn't get better I will live with it.
