Default slight smoke from oil breather filter on valve cover after dyno tuning...normal???

ok well i dynoed my jrsc si the other day and while the car was on the dyno on the second pull it started puffin white smoke from the oil breather filter. It continued to smoke more with rpm. Now the car still puffs a small amount of smoke from the breather at idle and when i rev the engine. It does not smoke out of the exhaust though, just from the valve cover. The tuner and a non affiliated shop both said not to worry about it because the car put out good numbers. They just recommended the endyne catch can kit. The performance of the car seems flawless, but i am just worried about the breather issue. I checked the motors compression and the results were fine. Any ideas guys? Anyone with the same problem?

do a leakdown test to see if there are any potential problems. oil vapors in the crankcase are normal, hence why we have PCV systems n such. :-)

white smoke from the breather is known as blow by. it is a good indication that your piston rings are going bad, or you might have a cracked ringland in the near future. same thing happened to my friend with his b18c5 block and JG pro series b16 head. To be safe, do a cylinder leakdown test as stated before, compression tests suck in my opinion. lay off the boost until then-

k thanks for the replies guys. ok well maybe this helps...the motor is built, pistons, rods, and sleeved and it is brand new. got about 500 miles on it. the head is a stock b16. also, how much should i look to pay for a leakdown test, i can't afford the snap on leakdown tester so i would just have someone do it for me. thanx

A small amount of blow by is sometimes normal in race engines. Whoever built the motor may have built it that way...I have 20% leakdown on two cylinders, and still made close to 400whp and the car runs perfect..

I agree, it may be normal. Some blowby and leakdown occurs normally, that is why the PCV is there. If it gets excessive, then you have a problem.

thats what two different mechanics who say it said, they told me since the engine makes good power i shouldn't worry. The car does perform insanely for a supercharged car. jrsc 9psi, close to stock compression, made 248whp and 172 torque. I guess i will just have to suck it up and deal with it.

Hey tygsr does this mean i will be burning alot of oil? does your car burn oil like crazy with a 20% cylinder leakage? And does yours smoke from the breather as well? How many miles you been running your car with that motor? Thanks in advance, sorry for all the questions.
