Re: (B and B)
To add to this conversation, I spoke IN LENGTH with the head of tech support for Probe. He confirmed that there are two main manufacturers that are producing these rods overseas. Eagle, Scat, Probe, Tuner Toys....all from the same pool. Probe's, SCAT, Eagle, TT....all use ARP bolts.
It is also a fact, that the raw rod is produced overseas, and that final machining is done here. Probe has been in the V8 business for some time now, and I've spoken to several machinists locally that have been using their products for years.
In terms of pistons my local machinist/racecar builder said:
I'd put probe against weiseco or Ross any day. I wouldn't put them against JE's or a custom piston though. In the experience I've had, the quality is consistent and the parts are descent.
On rods:
I wouldn't hesitate to use them versus an Eagle or SCAT if a budget Hbeam was what the build was calling for.
The V8 guys have used the stuff successfully, so we shouldn't be any different. I'm personally going to use the Probe rods in two builds that are underway. Have to get the facts firsthand.
