building d-series: couple questions
1) i have a a6 and z6 girdle. which one is better/stronger?
2) i have some a6 srp pistons. will they work in a z6?
Honda SC7025 D16Z6 2.953" / 75.0mm STD 1.181 9.0
Honda SC7055 D16A6 2.953" / 75.0mm STD 1.163 9.0
3) what does the 1.163 number mean?
4) are ACL bearings considered green honda bearings..as in size?
thanks!

oh and for the girdle use the one with that came out of the block you are using so you dont need to linehone the mains

If you use a girdle other than the one that came with the block you need to have it align bored so that it is perfectly round when assembled.

i see... ill just stick to the z6 then.
i bought this built a6 block with eagle h-beams, srp pistons, acl bearings, arp headstuds for $200.
sold the studs for $50 to a friend since i already have them in my other z6 in my car. i think ill just get new pistons/rings. the acl bearings look fine but ill get new ones. should i get plastigauged honda oem bearings or acl.. the guy i bought this from said it never knocked or anything.
another question.. i know you can get the sizes of bearings you need by looking at the markings on the crank and block, but does anyone have a chart for that or something?

Re: (mike93boost)
definately get new bearings they dont cost much
brand is a preference either will work... figure out what colors you need and if you need a good variety get oem if they are all pretty close you can get ACLs
i think the pistons would work just do a little more research....but that being said...SRP wouldnt be my choice for a FI piston

good info up above.
you do have to remember that the pistons you choose should be for the head you are using. Z6 and A6 heads are different in valve size and Valve angle. Best to choose the right one for the exact application.

Re: (dornon13)
im using 550cc's in my d and im goin for 350hp. 550's should be fine. As far as the manifold i'm using an equal length ram horn they have better top end so thats what i got to try to make 350hp out of a d. A log manifold might be pushing it. And for the book I used an A6 girdle in my Z6 build without any modifications or honing or whatever. The A6 one is suppose to be stronger thats why I used it.

Re: (mike93boost)
Like I said I'm not too sure you want to go with a log mani on a d series to attempt to get 350whp. The reason is because the only way to get power out of these things is to rev. them high. To make power up high you will need some head work to make the head flow better, probably a ram horn or mini ram horn turbo mani., and a big turbo that makes awsome top end...because if your looking for that amount of power out of a d you're not gonna have much low to mid range power its gonna be all top end unless you go with a ball bearing turbo.
