Rebuild my B16 block or Build a B18A for boost...
I messed up something in my motor... not sure if it is the ringlands, a piston or maybe worse on my B16A...
Would it be better for me to rebuild the B16 even though i don't know the extent of the damage or buy / build a Ls block and build it and have an Ls / Vtec setup for boost...
I've heard many different opinions. If I use the Ls block, I will lose some revs... but I will gain power and torque. If I rebuild the B16, I can rev the hell out of it...
I'm trying to find the real answers to these "stories" I guess and also what would be the smartest way to go... Rebuild my B16 or a Built B18A/B

IF you build a b18 block right, you wont need to worry about loosin "revs"
Id build the b18... tq is nice... if you are deciding between the 2, definetly build the b18 over the b16

go with the 1.8l. no reason to rev a street turbo motor over 8500rpm anyway. anything more than that is just abusing it.

it would have to be an 85-86mm bore</TD></TR></TABLE>
I thought a b16 81mm was 1.6 (rounding up)
Bore that to 84mm makes it a 1.8
Take the 1.8 @ 81mm and bore it to 84 makes it a 2.0?

the b16 has a shorter stroke. what you say is true about b18's.

Re: (doood)
I know the B16 has the shorter stroke and I also know the B18 has a little larger displacement, which in turn with the B18 would give a little more trq and such... I'm just pulled in both directions...
Like I said before, alot of people say go with the B16 and other says go with the B18...
Money is a little tight right now and luckily I have friend that are willing to help me with this every step of the way and I have one letting e borrow his spare B16 block for now while I build whatever I decide to go with. But like I said, I have no clue what to go with...
I'm honestly not looking to sleeve anything or bore anything out. I would like to stay within the standards for the pistons and such.
I'm just looking for a little more insight and the best bang for the budget buck right now. Sucks that I spent all my money on upgrading my entire turbo setup and have hardly anything left currently for the motor, lol. But hey, thats life!
