Quick ARP Rod Bolt Q...
Alright, well im checking my bearing clearances for my rod bearings right now(or was about to), when i noticed something. When i ordered my eagle rods i specifically asked for the new arp2000 3/8" bolts(b18c rods). and it says 3/8" on the box(with sharpie). now, on the sheet i got with the rods it talks about 2 different arp2000 bolts( the 3/8" and the 5/16"(the ones i didnt want)). the chart reads like this:
(wont post how i want the chart to so thats the reason for the underscoring)
Torque Specs:
Bolt________________Identification_______Torque___ _____Bolt Stretch
3/8" ARP 2000_______7/16" Bolt Head_____43 ft. lbs_______blah blah
5/16" ARP 2000______3/8" Bolt Head______28 ft. lbs_______blee blee
now the 12 pt. socket that fits correctly on the head of mine is a 3/8"(7/16" just spins on it). this would lead me to believe i was sent the 5/16" bolt instead of the 3/8", and if im not mistaken the 5/16" bolts are used only for the nonvtecs now. unless im reading something totally wrong here..... anyone?
you can see in this pic, the head is 3/8" then right beneath the head it goes down to 5/16" and then the thinnest part is 1/4" and then back to 5/16" on the threads.

Wait - So All Vtec rods now ship with the 3/8's bolt? Did you get sent LS rods too?
Is there any place I can get my old eagle rods retro-fitted with the 3/8's bolt? Like can I buy the bolt and have a machine shop redo the threads? If so where do I pick up these larger bolts....43ft-lbs over 28 seems like a HUGE difference to me!
