Default Question on: sc61 & gt35 & pt67

Alright well... I used the search function and I cant find anything conclusive on the pros and cons on all 3 turbos so I figured I would make a thread for all 3 at once... I plan on getting 600hp to the wheels... Now I heard many good things about the sc61 and few about the pt67... Now I am wondering which turbo will be a better choice as far as spooling and lag is concerned... Thanks

EDIT: This is for a street daily drive car... the 600hp is only for dyno queen!

MY SETUP:
9:1 Compression Pistons
Eagle Rods
Darton sleeves
KMS Valves
KMS Springs
KMS Retainers
Edelbrock Victor X Intake Manifold
Skunk 2 Cam Gears
Greddy Power Exhaust
RS*R Headers
3-Angle Vavle Job
Bored block .5 Over
Micropolished and Balanced Crank
Port & Polish Head
Port Match Intake Manifold

Among various other little things....

If the 600whp will be your peak, I will say use the SC61. If you desire more than that, use the PT67. I have no first hand info on the GT35.

the gt3561 (gt35e) is supposed to spool a little ealier than the sc61 and still give the same power or a little more...
Almost too good to be true

I think you're going to have a hard time making 600 WHP out of an SC61, unless you use the T4 housing version. If I were in your shoes I would get a manifold with a T4 flange and run a garrett GT40R. It'll hit 600 fairly easily, and will still spool nicely.

So to achieve 600 hp the sc61 might be little small and the pt67 to big so how about the gt3561 will that spool as fast as the sc61 and achieve 600hp without the turbo being maxed out... BTW toss me some ideas of a cast iron turbo manifold that would be good... I am slowly building this kit so any and every advice is greatly appreciated!

First off, just so you know, you dont have headers, you have a header. And 2nd I would go with an inline pro SS manifold.

in the words of Geoff Raicer:

"The GT35R is a HELL of a turbo, and your spool/horsepower goals will be easily met and exceeded with it!"

That was during a discussion we were having via email about my setup, goals, and plans, and i figured it would be pertinent here. Granted, i'll be using the GT35R, which is the ballbearing model, but the wheel/housing specs are the same.

Truthfully I dont think your gonna hit 600 whp as that is a **** load, and I really really doubt those eagle rods will hold 600 whp either. The PT67 will hit 600 nicely without over doing it. I wouldnt worry too much about lag, as if your really looking to hit that much power, you dont want all the down low anyways, as you will get NO traction through the 1st 3 gears. GL with your car, keep us updated. I thought I would prossibly want that much hp before, now im thinking 400-450 will be PLENTY for the track. and 350 on the roads.

You should really try searching harder. All three of those turbos have been discussed in many threads, the topic has literally been beaten to death.

600whp wont come on a silver platter

Haha ok to address some questions and statements... The 600whp yes it wont come on a silver plater and maybe those eagle rods might not take it all the time but I just want the dyno slip saying 600whp period... as I stated in my first post it will be a dyno queen run thats it then I will tone the boost back down. Otherwise I will just run off the wastegate till more boost is needed. I know 600whp doesnt come at the flip of switch but I dont plan on it being like that and I dont expect it to be easy. It is my goal! Anyways I am guessing the gt35 is more of a choice then the sc61 so I will look into it further anymore comments will be greatly appreciated. And yes I will deff keep HT posted!

Get the GT35R(The ball bearing Garrett unit) Its more expensive, but its worth it... Another user on here, made 427whp @ 15psi boost, on a setup almost exactly the same as yours...

EDIT: Dont use the KMS valvetrain setup... Look at http://www.m24x.com good prices, great products

I have used both the T4 SC61 and the PT67 on my car with great success. I would recommend either turbo for your setup. With a full-race manifold, the PT67 started making gobs of power at 6000 RPM and then jumped up to peak at around 8900 on 25 lbs, a very useable power band.

Talk to Geoff Raicer (full-race geoff).

milano, by far one of the greatest, most helpful and informative posts ever. and the preceding statement is probably one of the most sarcastic.

If you want 600 to the wheels you are going to be very hard pressed to do it with the GT35R unless you run a T4 exhaust housing with .81 or .96 A/R. I really don't think it's possible to make that much power with a T3/T4 hybrid, unless you are running a mammoth compressor side such as a T3/T67. IMHO a straight T4 PT67 is plenty streetable.

you dont run a PT67, you run a Full Race T4/T67

precision has nothing to do with that

it sounds like you should check out our t3/t67 turbo, we use it on the majority of the high power street cars that we build. The only true 600whp t3/t4 that i know of
