Default Precision 6765 vband outlet question.

I have a PTE 6765, it has the vband inlet/outlet exhaust housing on it. I also have a 3" vband flange and a couple clamps lying around from a previous project, don't remember if I got them from Summit, eBay, or where I got them. I am in the process of mocking up the downpipe and I had a friend temporarily tack the 3" flange onto some piping so I could clamp it to the turbo. I noticed that with that particular flange and clamp that I can not get the downpipe to really center on the turbo housing and I am afraid it may leak. Does anyone know if the Precision brand flanges that they sell at Precision may be sized a little differently and are the machined to center themselves onto the exhaust housing when you torque down the vband clamp? I know on the vband inlet to the exhaust housing it is machined specifically to mate up the manifold with the turbo and center itself to make a seal when you torque down the vband, I assume the Precision brand exhaust vbands do the same thing?

Sorry if this sounds confusing. I tried to find a pic of a vband flange that Precision sells where I could see the mating surface of the flange, but did not run across one.

I think I just ran across some pics and answered my own question. Looks like I need to get another vband for my downpipe that is machined for the turbo so it will seal up. Had not really paid any attention to it until tonight when I was measuring and marking the piping for cutting and welding. I realized when I clamped the downpipe onto the turbo that it was probably going to leak since that vband flange is not centered on the turbo housing.

Here are some pics of flanges that I think that I need.

You are correct.

PTE uses their own specific flanges/clamps.

I thought so. Looks like I will be ordering a flange and clamp from them or someone who deals with the Precision flanges and clamps soon. Good thing I noticed that flange not seating properly now instead of after the downpipe is all welded up.

When I bought my brand new precision turbo I was irked it didn't come with the $65 flange you are talking about...lesson learned I guess.

It would be nice if they did include that stuff with it. Mine came with nothing.

I would just weld a 3" vband onto the housing. That way you can dump straight into 3" piping. The one pictured above has the precision vband turbine housing. I just welded a 3" vband onto the outlet, it fit great. Unless you are talking about a band for the inlet of the turbine.

OOps just reread and noticed you're on 65 housing, prolly t4 I assume. the picture stated was on a t3 58 .63a/r.

of course they wouldn't include it nor would they let the castings allow for a common v-band flange... It's precision remember? money money money

and a little birdie told me that Precision is still buy Garrett turbocharger components through a few of Garretts 3rd party distributors... makes me wonder what they are buying and how they are modifying it

It's the .82a/r housing with the vband inlet and outlet they offer. I got my turbo manifold on a good deal so I went for it. Honestly I would like to have a normal t4 flange on it and talked with the maker of the turbo manifold about possibly modifying it for a normal flange. He didn't want to do it and suggested against it. So I am just using what I have. Obviously bought the turbo mani before I had the turbo.
