Default Port And Polish? Yes or NO??

hey whats up Honda-tech... as some of you know or dont im building my first turbo honda build... im not new to the turbo game just to the honda...
so far i got
84.5mm GE sleeved block
9.1 weiscos
crower rods
crower rod bolts
Arp head studs
Hondata s300
Hondata 4 bar map senser
AFI bottom mount manifold
3' downpipe
tial 44mm WG
tial 50mm BOV
all piping
garrett backdoor intercooler
Rc 1000cc injecters
Eldelbrock Victor X mani

Now im probably most likely going with a GT35R 82.
i know i still need lots and lots of parts.. but i want i really want to know do i really need to get my head ported and polished? Now jeff evans on his site swears by the rule of not porting and polishing unless you are going to have a horsepower goal of 800-900 hp.he says just a good valve job and a bowl blend will give you the most cfm gains.. im not going anywhere near that.. im looking to have somewhere in the 500-550... Now ive heard alot of people say the port and polishing is for mostly NA cars.. is that true? ... so basically i want to hear opinions and what you turbo guys think about this $hittt.. help me out... because PNP will save me some dough... but i not cheaping out.. just dont want to spend money on something unnecessary... thanks..

for your horsepower goals you will not need a port job, you would be better off getting a set of skunk2 tuner 1 cams

I agree with earl you dont need to spend money in porting the head... I have a similar setup and I dont have a ported head. In talking with jeff he showed me setups similar to mine that did not have head work and made great power. Use that money on a good tune and make sure your fuel setup is capable of supporting your goals.

dual walbro is not needed for 550whp

i have a portflow head, but it is not needed, but definetly does not hurt me in any way

but money with a setup like yours can be better spent elsewhere

Either get a good (expensive) port job or none at all IMO. Stock port head here @ 800whp.

DIY port job otherwise not worth it unless you are going for crazy power. LOL I ported my head and gained about 5whp. I didnt know what I was doing but the good thing is at least I didnt lose power. It was not worth my time!
