You may want to consider removing the heat wrap from the charge piping. That type of heat wrap is designed to retain heat, not something you want on intercooler pipes!

Tony1 is absolutely correct.....as usual!
That wrap is designed to insulate piping and retain the heat inside..........heat in your charge air is definately NOT what you want to have for good power!
Nice and simple setup though!

You may want to move the thermal wrap over to the manifold when you take it out. Its hard to tell but it looks like your vacuum line to the wastegate is pretty close to the manifold, if it is touching it may melt. Or you could just reroute it..

no, it won't warp
It looks like you have alot of it so put it on both, or at least the manifold and the top portion of the downpipe.
If you want to get serious there is a type of heat wrap that keeps heat out, Its shiny and almost looks like foil with a sticky backing. Use that for the charge pipes.

nice car and setup.
if those thermal wraps retains heat, how bout those wrap that are shiny like chrome that are usually used in a/c hoses? are they good or do they retain heat as well?

how bout if you wrap it with the same insulating materials used on a/c hoses? the ones made of foam with the shiny chrome outer skin? those protect the covered part from heat right? will those work better instead of the thermotec( fiberglass) stuff?

The wraps both block heat, header wrap or shiney foil wrap. Whether they retain heat inside or block heat from outside depends on which side of the wrap is hotter.
In this case the pipe is probably going to be hotter than the engine bay air temp so....
Nice looking car there.

Thats the wrap I was talking about, they are to block heat out, the wrap that is on there now will keep any heat IN, its the exact opposite of what you want.

Re: pics of my turbo setup b18b1 custom turbo. 56k beware. (egturbo)
good to hear that.
well, i have first hand experience with those heat wraps (shiny foam ones), i wrap the pipe after the intercooler going to the throttle body. i left a small portion near the headlights bare so that after a run i can feel the pipe if it's hot or not, and it's not. so i guess it works.
