okay, i just got my motor fully built and up and running. The car doesnt smoke at all, runs just fine, doesnt smoke under boost. I changed the oil the first 15 min, then after the next 8 miles and dumped the oil. It kinda smells like gas and oil mix. I look under at my windage tray and i see this... looks like it got VERY clean under cylinder #4... just curious as to why? and what would have caused this? Now remember this motor has 8 miles on it so im probably just freakin out over nothing but maybe im not?



The windage tray WAS all brown but somehow got enough heat and something else to brighten it up to silver again. hmm. Biggest question is why only on this side of the tray?

No idea why that happened, as far as the smelly oil: is your car fully tuned? I know my car is runnign a tad rich and the oil reeks when I drain it. I just change it more often. Also building a motor on the loose side will cause this, the extra blowby will cause a bit of gas to make its way to the oil. I really dont think its abig deal unless you dont change your oil more than regularly. I usually change mine when I start to see a darker color on the dipstick.

yeah i dont think i have anything big to worry about being that the motor has barely any miles on it and i just changed the oil AGAIN. Makes sense about loose clearances and ring gaps. But hey the motor runs great, doesnt smoke so how bad could it really be haha.
