Making a 3" Exhaust Quiet? please help.
Well I'm in the final steps of installing all my turbo goodies on my LS integra & well, the exhaust is way to f'n loud. There is no resonator on the exhaust that I have, but I'm not sure if that will even help quiet it down at all (usually they just smooth out the sounds so it's less raspy)? It has a skunk2 3" muffler & it's way to loud for my style...
Basically I want a VERY quiet 3" muffler, I'd rather hear the turbo spool that listen to some loud obnoxious exhaust. What is the most quiet 3" muffler that I can use? & where can I get it without spending an arm & a leg. I don't even mind some mild flow restriction/power lose/slightly slower spool times if I can just get it quiet! PLEASE ADVISE
& yes I searched... THANK YOU HONDA-TECH

Stuff 2 thin resonators in the 'tunnel', then get something like an Apexi WS2 80mm muffler. I'm unsure if they are baffled or straight-through, but from what people say they're the most quiet you'll find from a 3". I know the 60mm I had on my old hatch was very quiet, as I had to run a day w/o the muffler.

1' long resonator or 2 small ones back to back with about 4" gap in between and a 3" vibrant oval muffler and call it a day

Yes, hot side piping removed on stock injectors/ecu until everything including the exhaust is finished, driven maybe 4miles for some minor welding under NO BOOST The car won't be running on boost till next week after the tune.

Boost or not, if you're letting the turbo freewheel ('powering' the exhaust with no load on the compressor), you're already set to do damage. W/o any load on the compressor can cause bearing damage.
If you just have to run it, you should have everything connected besides one clamp on the charge pipes, remove the WG spring, and possibly create a small, controlled exhaust leak. Just to spew some numbers, you've let your turbo freewheel for probably 400,000 revolutions of it's shaft.

Re: (HiProfile)
sound all depends on the size of the muffler
if you run a stupid small round muffler or a small oval muffler its going to be loud
i have a full 3" turbo back exhaust and no cat no resonators and i run a huge turbo and make about 500whp and the car is super quiet
why
because i run a large straight through magnaflow oval muffler 5x11 oval with a 22" body

Re: (4thgenhtch)
I think that sometimes it varies on turbo size and or probably how long the exhaust is. For example on my old crx I first had straight pipe all the way back with a 22" resonator in the middle; still very loud. Then I added a Apex 3" n1 at the end it it made it pretty quiet. Now on my integra its a different story; I ran staright 3" pipe all the way back and added a 3" magnaflow 20"-22" body and its super quiet, until the wastegate opens
