A GT35R with a .70 a/r on a basically stock b16.
Motor has only Skunk2 TB and Intake Manifold. Planning on redoing the entire valve train soon and adding cams.
I got a good deal on this kit and was thinking about installing it now for ***** an giggles.
How dumb would it be to put this turbo on now?
Would I have problems making boost? I only want to run 8-10psi.
I have s300 installed already and would be getting it tuned on that.
Thanks for the input..

A 35r is a pretty good sized turbo and you will have a late "full" spool for street driving. The 35r prob isnt your best choice since you only plan on running 8-10lbs. That would not even be close to its effeciency range. It will still be fun to drive and when you plan on running more boost or installing supporting mods, you wont have to upgrade the turbo.

Look at the GT35 compresor map. You wont be even tickling it. That turbo blows after 20 psi. Dont even think of it. Full boost close to 7000 rpms with the .82 hot side on that B16.
GT28 or 30 for you and its fun as hell

What cams are you planning to add? Use a good flowing exhaust manifold and downpipe so you are set when you wanna up the boost

Just listen to people who HAVE used it on the same motor setup as you or similar but as long as they have EXPERIENCE WITH IT. Too much he said she said on here sometimes...

I drove my buddy with stock b16 with a
35r and it was lagging. Power didn't really kick until after 6k rpm. He was boosting around 18lbs. My 30r felt a whole lot better.

Even compressor maps don't tell half the story of what needs to be configured when looking at a proper turbo setup. it's about 1/4 of the whole effect. One has to look at the rest of the turbocharger, (turbine wheel, turbine housing, fuel used to reach that pressure ratio), as well as the components surrounding the turbo, such as engine demand flow, VE, and the static compression of the car, so that one can know what boost pressure is needed to make the power desired.
Looking at the compressor map only is like seeing a peep show of a hot girl from a dirty window. Sure you get to see some of the goodies, but you'd rather get rid of the window to get the full clear picture.
