Icon2 Ignition timing, S300 compensation by gear, what is safe timing range?

Noticed that all the stock maps have ignition advance applied to 4th and 5th gears (30 and 44% respectively, so it's no small amount). Do you guys keep those compensations in place when you're tuning? If so, then wouldn't the tune in 1-3 gears be retarded relative?

Trying to get an idea of a safe range of ignition advance for my setup.

D16Y8, GT3076R, rods, pistons, valves, stock cylinder head and sleeves, P28. Boosting at 19psi on 91 pump gas. Top end, we're currently at about 19degrees advance with 0% gear compensation and making 266whp which seems very low to me. I've seen some maps on hondata forums with between 16-22 degrees advance at those boost levels but they haven't touched the gear compensation. That would mean that they're running as high as 23-32 deg advance?

**edit** I was mistaken, the gear adjustment is for throttle tip-in, not overall ignition trim.
