I thought the APEX'i WS2 was supposed to be quiet???
I bought the 80mm version and have a 2.5 downpipe --> 2.5" carsound cat and Kteller 3" piping back to the muffler with a 26" dynomax resonator. I was trying to get things as quiet as I could, but this thing is freaking loud. It's not the annoying raspy loud, but more of a deep bassy groan that drives me crazy at anything under 4k rpm. It's almost like the trunk creates a big speaker box that amplifies the sound. I realize that the 80mm is a straight through design, but I was still hoping for something quieter.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do? I'd hate to buy a different muffler since I just bought this one, but I will if I have to. Kind of makes me wish I would have ran a cut-out instead with the factory exhaust.
Here are a couple pics, don't mind my dirty car..

in terms of compared to stock, yea, its tgonna be loud. but im sure its not too bad at all. youll get used to it very fast. hell, my open downpipe is considered loud, but not to the point where i cant stand it (well, i lied, sometimes its annoying)

I don't know, it's pretty loud.. Download a tone generator and play 80 hertz for about 5 minutes at a pretty loud volume and you'll know what I'm talking about.... oh yeah, make sure you have a really big subwoofer.

I wonder if you could extend it a little more past the bumper if that would make a difference?
Does apex offer a silencer for that exhaust?
I have the ws on my car and like it alot more than my old straight through generic muffler.
My ws is chambered, yours is straight through?

you do have 3in piping going for a long while, then you just added the muffler. a apexi world sport full catback exhaust is very quiet. but you have 3in piping going to a muffler. a muffler can only do soo much.
plus, you have a turbo, i can honestly say i've never really heard a LOUD turbo, go drive with a vortec SC guy with no cat and 3in exhaust, taht is loud.

I have the 80mm version, not the 60?? which is a straight through design. Compared to some of the fart pipes I hear around town, it's pretty quiet, but it's still a little loud for my taste. Above ~4k rpms it almost sounds like stock, it's just the lower rpms.
Here are a couple sound/movie clips for whoever asked.. I'm using a digital camera, so it doesn't really capture the low pitch sound that I'm hearing, you just have to take my word for it
First: mp3 file-just cruising from ~2,500-4,000 rpms.

Second: mov file-running through the gears.. I have an open dumptube which makes it sound loud. This is only 3-4 psi (for now, need a new wastegate spring). Sorry, the movie is tiny, but I'm on dial-up and it takes forever to upload big movies.

Why would you put an exhaust on if you didn't like the "loud" sound associated with it? There are just some things you live with when you modify honda/acuras

Straight-through is the key word(s). The packing in there is what lowers the tone, but being straight through, it doesn't reduce the noise much. The 'silent' WS2's you're hearing about are the 2.5" baffled mufflers for NA cars. From what I've read, most people with a resonator and a magnaflow 3" stright-through say thier setup is pretty quiet.

Re: I thought the APEX'i WS2 was supposed to be quiet??? (Muckman)
Yeah, it sounds alright on the camera.. I put the ws2 on because everyone said "it's as quiet as stock bla bla bla" (obviously they were talking about the NA version) and my stock exhaust/muffler defeats the purpose of putting a turbo on... I didn't know the 80mm version was straight through until I got it.
I like the sound at certain times, but for daily driving, it sucks.. It's a constant low pitch hum that the camera doesn't pick up. I'm just going to drop the subject and stop being a whiney ***

The inlet is right in the middle toward the bottom. I originally took it to a muffler shop, but they weren't able to bend 3" pipe enough to fit without collapsing the pipe (at least that's what they told me), so I had to order the mandrel bent 3" pipe kit from kteller.
Oh yeah, to whoever suggested the dynomat, I think that might actually help.. For now, I put an old bed comforter in the trunk along with some foam I had and it cuts down on the sound quite a bit when the windows are up..

its your piping
I have the WS2 with a 2.5inch dp and same piping that came with the exhaust and its quiet
like its no where near as quiete as stock but compared to any other exhaust its pretty damn quite
its much quiter than my friends with kteller 3in piping and 3in magnaflow muffler
