Default Hondata S300 Interesting Problem

Background Info:
So on Friday I was inquiring about fuel trims just before I went to test the S300 on my car for the first time and drive home for a few hours. Well I uploaded the converted (S200) file to a S300 calibration and the ECU seemed to like it. I switched the key off momentarily like you would with the S200 and then started the car. That's when the fun happened....

The car was running fine and actually seemed to run better even though I didn't change the tune at all. Niether the CEL or Maintanence lights came on so I thought everything was good to go. I had my laptop datalogging and was going to fine tune the street tune a bit buuuuut that didn't work out.

The SManager was giving me like 10 different error codes. The ones I can remember are:
- MAP sensor
- TPS sensor
- Injector Error
- Unknown <--??? haha
- Fuel Supply Sytem
- Ignition System
- Cylinder Position Sensor
- VSS
- ...and a few more

Some of these would go away and then show back up. The SManager also seemed like it was lagging. It wasn't smooth with updating the data, it seemed as though it would sample every second instead of sampling in real time. After like a minute or two, I got the pop-up window error of "Access violation at address 0043CA5B in module 'SManager.exe'. Read of address 00F582B0". It just wigged out and cascaded that same pop-up like 8 times from what I counted on the screen haha. If I clicked on "OK" the popup would not go away. See picture below.

Question:
Has anyone ever had this problem? What might be the cause? I have yet to reconnect the laptop and see if would work because now I'm scared that it'll screw with the tune or soemthing haha. Oh and by the way, I know those error codes are not right because the car is in perfect working order. Thanks for any input

When you open the S200 bin file, do nothing to it just open it and upload it without changing any parameters (especially the injector size). It should run the same as the S200 program. Just out of curiousity, did you just upload a generic base map to see how things went? Or maybe throw the ECU with the S300 in another car to see if it does anything funky like that. Could be the soldiering or something like that as well. Another thing just make sure you have the latest version of the SManager as well. I think they just released another one last month V 1.2.3

may want to try uploading the rom again, sounds like the Smanager got confused and isn't communicating appropriately.

may have to uninstall and re-install the usb driver.

1.) When you say just upload the bare S200 file to the ECU, from everything I've read I thought I had to tell it the injector size again since that's like the only thing that doesn't transfer?
2.)The car runs great, it's just that the SManager program (when I was datalogging) was wigging out on me.
3.) Nope, I did not try a basemap. I was too scared to try a basemap haha. Basemap=evil
4.) Yea I thought it could be a potential soldering problem, but then I thought nah that shouldn't be it. I sent my ECU to Hondata themself, so I would assume that they would test the connections (with one of those S300 tester things) before sending out an ECU to a customer.
5.) I downloaded the V1.2.3 software, but I'm going to reinstall windows and redownload the V1.2.3 software again. I want to clean up the computer anyways so don't think I'm putting myself through that much trouble just for the SManager software haha

Thanks for the replies so far guys

Were you recording or just dataloging?

Upload and Download work fine?

The upload seemed to work just fine. I was not recording, I just hit the little lightning bolt to datalog. I'll probably try it in a few days....there's not a chance in hell I'm taking the car out tomorrow if we actually get the forecasted 6-10 inches of snow.

Although I guess I could just key on the ignition without starting it to see if it freaks out on me. I'm about to reinstall windows again, so let the "fun" process of reloading everything begin haha.

Now that I'm back with a clean computer.....ouuuu I think you might have it. I have not cut any. All I did was get the ECU with the S300 installed back from Hondata. I then installed it, uploaded the tune to the ECU and then started the car. Will the car run normally without that J12 jumper cut?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does J12 do? I'll try and read up about it in the mean time.

j12 is for datalogging. I believe it should still run fine without it cut, but it will not datalog properly.

Would you happen to have a picture of where J12 is? I was doing a search on Hondata's forum but came up empty handed.

i dont have a pic, but if you are looking at the ecu with the chip in the lower right hand corner then j12 is on the bottom side to the left of the center of the ecu.

Well I found it, and Hondata did remove the J12 jumper. Look like I'm back to square one hoping it was the computer :

For any future references: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1348457 <--is the where I found the J12 location.

It is my understanding that when you load in your bin file from S200 to S300, you do not need to enter the new injector value unless you are actually running different injectors than you were on the old setup.

EDIT: when I went from s200 to s300, I did enter a new value because I went from 440cc to 750cc. The car started right up, but is quite lean all over the place.

I decided to post on Hondata's forum and this is what I got from them:

"It is a mismatch between the s300 and SManager.

Make sure that you have the latest version of SManager.
Check (initially) that the onboard datalogging is switched off.
Re-upload the calibration.
Datalog and check that the speed seems OK."

I'm going to try it again with a fresh copy of 1.2.3 and see how it turns out.
