I have seen very little information on a homemade turbo timer circuit on the net. The one site I did find, didnt really show a schematic or explain anything step by step (only an electronics person could figure it out).

Anyways, I have made my own timers about two years ago. the circuit is to the point now where it is very reliable and I have worked out any problems in it. I sent my design in to a PCB site to get a qoute. I was hoping to manufacture a "CHeap" but reliable timer and sell them for maybe $25 shipped on ebay. Well, the quotes I got were very expensive, and if I ever decide to make PCB boards I am goign to do it at home. (dont have the money for this now).

So anyways, It is pointless to try to make these since you can get a timer shiped on ebay for about $40 new.

Well I was thinking on doing a write up on the circuit but I dont have a lot of time. I have not really found anything good on the internet about this.

The circuit i have is nice becuase it is "stealth", it is a behind the dash unit with three switches to control it. it has a toggle switch to switch between two different preset times (2 and 5 minutes). I have had a couple hand soldered models in my car and made a couple for friends.


So if anyone knows of a good write up let me know, if not and a lot of people want one I am going to do it. total parts come to like 10-15 $ depending on where you get everything. I get my relays and componets for free so i just paid for the switchtes and a small board and a case. ($8).


I was also thinking about selling the parts to do this, and you can just follow instructions and build it yourself. maybe oneday i will make boards and sell them as a kit you can just solder in the components yourself.

the timers i had never malfunctioned, only once in my car becuase of a crappy switch i bought from radioshack was defective.

The circuit I have was built from scratch, no other ideas were involved, it was tested by me and I tried to figure out all the current tolerances of the transistors used and such.

might be something but most of the people over here are better with oil than with a solder iron

I'd be really interested. I'd be great if I could get a list of materials & a basic circuit design since I've designed a few simple boards myself. My only problem for building circuts is there is so much junk to dig through to find any usable info on the web. Plus there's not many circuits I need in for daily life.

Wow, Props! ive worked with a few circuit boards and soldering I built a few xboxes and chipped ecu. Thats really nice that you would tell people how it is done, to tell you the truth id be very interested, If you could post up a link or even post up the completed write up that would be ****, thanks and again nice job

I am an EE and I didn't waste time building something I could buy for $40. Not to mention, it would cost ~$30 in parts plus your time, and since you don't have much time I would say yours is worth something. Granted, there is an educational aspect, but if you can't take the time to design a simple turbo timer (you stated there is no schematic and only an electronics person would undertand the instructions) then you need to spend some time and learn more about the subject.

but if you can make a nice conceled TT for cheap and dudes making a little money off em i think its worth it

he said the website he found had no schematics and only an electronics person would understand the instructions from the website. i think he's stating that if we want a write up he can do one and that he can explain it better than the website he found explained it.
