Help please! Flashing cel when driving, can't pull code. One lost asian!!!
Hey guys,
I am recently boosted as of last week. My setup is 1999 Civic ex, d16y8, greddy 15g kit, obd 2 to obd 1 ecu conversion dyno tuned in Crome, 450cc blue tops, honda resistor box, high flo cat, greddy evo cat back exaust w/resonator removed.
I recently got a flashing cel light while driving it blinks 2 long flashes 1 short flash and this goes on continuously with engine running, before I even trying to pull any codes. I try to paper clip the blue harness near the ecu to get cel code to find out problem, turn the ignition to on, and all I get is either no blinking, or the same blinking pattern that happens when the cel first comes on. Also, I can't reset the cel, it is always on. I took out the back up fuse, and also removed battery wires and it won't reset.
"Does the blinking pattern when the cel flashes when it first comes on with engine running have anything to do with the actual cel code? If so it would be code 21 vtec solenoid valve circuit. I kinda am thinking the blinking while driving might be independent from the code, but any help would be appreciated. Also, how do I find out what cel the engine is throwing if I can't paperclip code read?" I tried the obd 2 code reader from autozone and all I get is an error, presumably because I am converted to obd 1 now.
The most recent thing prior to this problem I have done is putting in a high flow cat and fiddling with the 02 sensor. Could it be a bad 02 sensor. The idle of the car is surging, puttering at times, and car is running very rich. Prior to CEL a/f ratio was nice and so was idle.
Basically I would like to know what cel I am throwing, so I can know where to start out at, not just fixing things that might not be broken. Or if I can't find out the code where should I start my troubleshooting.
