Default Golden Eagle Groupbuy

Here is the Groupbuy for the Golden Eagle sleeves.

First: The Rules.

1. I will be the only contact for questions or concerns on the blocks. (This means if you have changed your mind, or need something explained about the block, you contact me, and I contact GE.)

2. All blocks will be shipped to me, and then I will ship them to GE. Shipping from here (VA) to there (CA) with 6 blocks is about $35 each.

3. All money will be paid up front. I will accept Money Orders and Paypal. If using Paypal a 3% fee is added (Paypal's thing, not mine.) and I will send you a bill to pay so I can keep track of who is paying for what. I will email my address to everyone that is in, and that is where all MO will be shipped.

4. Blocks will be completely stripped down. No oil pan studs (If you can get them, if not GE will remove, but it makes the process move along quicker!).

5. Blocks will be shipped in a 20X20X20 box filled with peanuts for packing material. There will also be a form (Which I will forward to everyone that is in for sure) slipped into one of the cylinders that states everything you want GE to do to your block. If you need the block to be bored and honed, all four pistons must be included as well. Somewhere on the outside of the box, not too big, but down in the lower left hand corner, the engine code and the serial number must be printed. (Just makes it easier for me to track.) Finally, ship it UPS. I have checked, and it is the cheapest way.

Now, The Prices.

Resleeve, Jet-wash, Decking, and pressure test up to 65 psi,(If you would like a copper O-Ring, It is free, but you must use a STOCK headgasket!!)

B-series - $585 (+$17.50, it is a set tax fee from Golden Eagle)
H-series - $644 (+$17.50, it is a set tax fee from Golden Eagle)

If you would like your block Bored and Honed, (All 4 pistons must be included, each cylinder is bored and honed to match the piston. All pistons come back numbered for the cylinder. The sleeves are not stock size, you will have to get them bored and honed no matter what.)

Bore and Hone - $125

JE Pistons, (Wrist pins, Rings, 81mm, 81.5mm, and 84 mm, any C/R, others are available but there is a slight price increase)

JE Pistons - $495

Time involved.

Turn around time, It takes a month now to get the sleeves, (Give or take a few weeks) and one week to ship there and one week back. Now a Bore and Hone job adds a week. The reason for the increased turn around time is how busy GE is right now. This is another reason for me being the sole contact to them. The less they have to answer the phone, the more time they have to work.

ENDS MAY 15TH, (And block must be in my possession by May 23RD)

Thanks everyone and I look forward to taking your order.

I need to carry this over from the original post. Again, I have to follow rules set down before me from GE.

I need to address something here. I am one of a few that still have their GB status from GE, and I kept this by following a few simple rules that were stated to me when I started. I have been getting IM's and messages about if you live in Cali, do you still have to send it to me. The answer is yes. I know it sounds kinda silly to ship a block from one coast to another, and then back again, but here is the deal. GE has authorized dealers in that area. If I were to have someone in my groupbuy to drop their block off a GE, I am effectively taking a customer away from the authorized dealer in that area. For this reason, GE nor I can let that happen. You will still save money by joining my GB, but if you want to drop it off, you will have to pay the full price that GE sells them for. I really hope that everyone can understand this. It is one of those business ethics things

Still ironing out the pistons. I will post as soon as I get that squared away.

On the headgasket. I suggest Cometic. You can go the copper o-ring route, but with the extra crush Cometic provides and the .02 mm GE leaves all blocks (GE leaves the sleeves .02 mm over the height of the deck) you will never blow a head gasket!

Hey there gsrlude..
1)thanx for doing a group buy and spending your time on us fellow ht members...

2)Do GE do some kind of guarantee? What i mean by that is.. after the block has been built up.. it should handle boost and be safe/reliable etc right... with tunning of course.... does ge have some kind of guarantee that i can hold 1 bar of boost safely etc...

I will IM you with further questions.. I am interested in this deal...

Ok, this is about as good a time to ask.. what does a "copper O-ring" reffer to? From what I can tell it has something to do with the headgasket and mating of the head and block, but I'd like to nail this down already

here is a quote from Vince (V8KILR) from the 'other' groupbuy post:

"Here is the end all be all. My name is Vince Tiaga from Golden Eagle Mfg. and yes, we pressure test the coolant area for leaks at 65 psi. to make sure there is no water leaks into the oil chamber ( tested at 165 F ) . I also " RATE " my blocks at 60 LBS of turbo boost ( on a running motor with fuel and everything, not static!!!! ) I always tell people, you will blow the head off the block, before you crack a sleeve from us ( Golden Eagle Mfg. ) even up to 85 mm on a B-series. I can say this because we have taken cars to this limit before and they have held up perfectly with no distortion and no headgasket failure ( if using a copper wire o-ring and a stock 3-ply steel headgasket bored to the correct size for the motor, installed with copper spray, ARP headstuds torqued to 78 ft. lbs. and no detonation. ) This may seem like alot of mumbo jumbo, but it is the truth. If anyone cracks a sleeve of ours due to boost pressure ( not including detonation, valve drop or any other mechanical or tuning failure ) and our techs agree that only boost pressure is the culprit for the crack, we will replace the sleeves free of charge and pay for shipping of the block next day to wherever you are. I told one of my customers this weekend at Texas IDRC that if he wanted to beat the car he was up against, he should just turn up the boost!!! 47 lbs. of boost all the way down the track and not one problem with the motor. As long as you have the right internals, tuning and experience, don't be afraid of the boost levels rising past 30 lbs. especially if you are running one of my blocks. Remember this also, the bottom end does not " make " horsepower, it just holds it! Any questions or concerns can be sent to me directly at vince@goldeneaglemfg.com
Thanks for your time.

Ok well, gsr*lude hasn't answered my IM so I'll ask here, are there any provision's for D-series motors in this GB or no? I didn't see any pricing there, but I know D motors are overlooked all the time, so I wanna make sure before I commit. I'm looking to get the block sleeved, bored to 77mm and go with a set of JE 9.0:1's

I would like to add that vince has done 2 blocks for us. Last season the block held up all season long, not very common on a race car that raced all but one NHRA event and some local events. On the last race of the season, we wanted to see how good this block could hold up so we gave it 30psi + 150 shot of Nitrious Oxide. It still held up and when we took the head off, everything was still good.

Just my .02

Ok, just a little check-in with everyone. If you need JE pistons, I need to have the orders placed and payment in hand by 01 MAY 02 (Wednesday). This is so I can have them ordered and shipped to me in time to be placed into the boxes that will be going to GE. If you are ordering them and are not sending a block, I will have the pistons shipped straight to you. Again, this is for 81 mm, 81.5 mm, and 84 mm any C/R for $495(Includes wrist pins, and rings). Other sizes are available, but there is a slight price increase. Email me at: bgilstrap@***.net For the JE buy in. I will accept Paypal (With a 3% fee added to the $495, so a total of $509.85 if using Paypal) or I will accept a Money Order. Please, NO CHECKS ! Please tell me what size you need, how many, and how you will be paying. I will post my address below for everyone in need of it.

Brandon Gilstrap
2032 Antelope Place
Virginia Beach, VA 23456

Please give me an email before you ship anything so I will know something is coming my way. And please provide tracking numbers so I can track the packages. Thank you everyone for your cooperation.

I just need to address one more thing. When I started this GB, I said I would be the only contact. I am not trying to take away the right to talk to the Manufactor, but I am seeing a lot of posts that state I have talked to Ted or Vince out at GE and they said this or they said that. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal to anyone, but if you were trying to run a business and had to pick up the phone a bunch of times throughout the day, you would not get anything done. Now, if you picked up the phone once, how much more would you accomplish? I am running this buy to hook up fellow H-T members, but I will not lose what I have at GE because the rules can't be followed. So, again, please direct all questions to me and I will get the info back as soon as possible. Thank you.

Finally, the shipping rates I posted were from VA to CA, and I had 6 blocks leave at once. The more pounds you have on multiple pkgs through UPS, the bigger the discount. If you are shipping a single box from CA to me, it should not exceed $45. A bare b or h series motor only weighs about 65 lbs.
