Default Gas Mileage? what you got

Guys im inquiring to see just exactly what kind of gas mileage you are getting out of ur turbo cars that are daily driven,

I have a boosted LSV in my 94 integra and im averaging around 260-280 per tank of gas. im running 11lbs with a boost leak

im not running it to the gas light either or I try not too.
my fuel set up is 1000cc Deatschwerks injectors and Aeromotive 340 stealth pump, stock supply and return lines

32 mpg average in 94 civic with 305 whp turbo stock gsr. I would do better if I stayed out of boost more but it's too much fun.

My Y7 with a 15G made 26 when I was abusing it for the tank, and 70+ highway cruising. Gas mileage is half in how you drive, and half how it's tuned.

I hear that boost is too much fun but I rarely beat on mine, im assuming most of my gas mileage problems are coming from my tune and bc I have a wideband gauge in my car and depending on the elements it will some times idle really rich like 10.5 and 14.4 at other times, when im not in boost im shifting at 3k rpm or less running a gsr trans with a LS 5th gear 90% of the miles on my car are highway miles to and from work.

LS gearing isn't always better for gas mileage. You have to give it more throttle to maintain lower revs.

exactly. unless you are already under a lot of load, the fuel values in your tune increase more with load than they do with rpm.

my 2 liter gsr 440hp pump gas gets just shy of 30 around town and 32-34 highway@70 mph. this is with me opening it up for a gear or 2 usually once per drive. the car weighs 2550 with me in it.

you really dont want to be in 5th gear at 2000 rpm everywhere. you go through load quick in 5th gear and even the slightest hill you might be at like 5" sucking down fuel increasing detonation risks. downshift to 4th and at like 3000 rpm you may only need 10" vacuum to get up that hill

Yep, that's the eloquent way of saying what I was trying to say but couldn't get down into text. Thank you. People say I'm crazy for DDing a CTR transmission...I'm just gonna have fun screaming around town and still getting good gas mileage, because I don't have to go foot down off lights just to get rolling

I average about 19-20mpg on 91 octane and about 14-15mpg on e85. This is me trying to stay out of boost. If I boost more the mpg will drop quite a lot. This is on a built stroker 2.4 in a s2000. 477whp on 91 and 621whp on e85 on 2000cc injectors.

B18C with 81.5mm pistons = 1834cc.

27 MPG with a bests of 30 and 31.

When it was NA, the avg was 29-30 with bests of 37 and 39.

It's not a bad compromise given that it makes 130% more power.

Ill add this to the conversation. My vitara motor was the smallest boost motor I've built it also got the worst mpg by far. With the low compression and long gears u have to drive around at like 8" or u cant keep up with traffic.

I try to do the math on every tank of gas I put in the Crx. I average about 35-37 on my daily grind which is short drives through "town" mostly with alot of warm up idling.

On 2 trips to meets where the entire tank was highway, I got over 42mpg, and Im not scared to do 5th gear 20+psi pulls

D16a6 with 680cc injectors

It really is too bad that this isn't common knowledge. Lower CR = lower efficiency = lower gas mileage.

Keep...hatin? I'd explain why thermal physics backs what I just said, but considering you used the word "hatin", I'm guessing it would go over your head. You know what "physics" is, right? That magical math that controls everything in the universe. Your motor isn't some special exception to the rule of the universe as we know it.

Also, my 9.4:1 got 70+ (even made 98 on one trip from Philly to DC), so your 42 is uh...cute.

I'll add. My ef sedan has a completely stock b16. 560cc injectors, walbro 255, big 16g turbo on 12-15 psi for the last 3 years. Baby the car. I average 30-33 mixed driving. All highway I have gotten 38. Self tuned.

best Ive gotten on a trip was 44.6mpg with a mini me turbo setup that I tuned. Ive also gotten 44.2 out of a turbo b16 with dsm injectors and a ls trans. usually right around 30 is what I expect from any turbo b series with mixed city/ hwy driving. I always lean cars out under cruising when i tune them. Ive found it helps to add in a decent amount of timing under light throttle to help make up some power. Ive watched my boost gauge drop about 2-4"of vacuum just from that timing advance under cruising.

so how much do you lean them out while cruising? 15.5-16:1? how much timing did you advance where you leaned it out?

I check the MPG on a regular basis and it depends on how hard I drive it. Taking it easy, I get 45+ MPG city. Not easy about 40 MPG city. Steady highway cruising in in the low to mid 60's MPG at 70MPH running ~15:1 AFR and about 15~16" hg.

90 CRX HF D16Z6 Holset HX-25 220ish to the wheels.

Way back when I had a my stock turbo y7 she got 40-50mpg. The key is leaning it out as much as possible during cruise while keeping the car feeling properly fueled. For that setup I cruised around 16.4afr and the car was happy there.
