Front Facing Low mounted Turbo Help Needed!!
Hey guys I have a front facing turbo manifold t4 precision 6765, the turbo sits a little lower then my drain back into the pan, I installed a -10 drain going to a scavenge pump to help ensure proper drain. Installed everything perfect normal driving no issues, now under boost its pushing oil past the seals and into the exhaust. I am running a -4 feed line I tried a .065 to see if that would help any and same thing oil going into the exhaust..Oil pressure at WOT is 80psi, warm at idle is about 45. 80psi is before the restrictor. Spoke to precision they said my oil pressure is high but nothing high enough to worry about I know Journal Bearing turbos are only good till 65psi. Precision says run -4 feed NO RESTRICTOR. with or without a restrictor I am having the same issues. -10 drain to a scavenge pump, pump sits about 3in lower then bottom of turbo drain. do I need to install a catch can in my drain? between drain and scavenge pump? Anyone else out there with a low mount turbo ? thanks guys I cant seem to figure this out and I don't want to damage the turbo..

Who made the exhaust manifold?
A catch can won't solve it either. You have to somehow, RAISE the turbo.

if you can post a pic of the setup(drain)..its seem that your pump doesnt flow enought oïl even with the .065 restrictor and the oïl backup.. again for your application DO NOT LISTEN PRECISION about using or not a restrictor..
there certainly a way to resolve this issue without rising the turbo.. a bunch setup like you have run flawlessly...

ill try and post a pic of the set up. how the heck does a rear mounted turbo system work with a scavenge pump then? I don't get it.. its definitely going to be impossible to raise the turbo with out changing my entire setup. hmmm

okay so I have done some research on ls1 tech and people who have similar low mounted front turbos have a catch can located rite off the turbo then a scavenge pump set upp off the catch can then going back up to the pan. So I guess I need some volume created before the scavenge pump? Sound rite?

yeah a small oil sump under the turbo then the scavenge pulling from it should work. You might be having issues with oil flowing back into the turbo when you shut the car down. Maybe try a check valve or something...
As a side note Nasioc has alot of threads about scavenge pumps and how to set them up

good idea... you can install the return line in the block(upper than the oïl level) and forget the sump.. you will be ok about the oïl backup....,,but you might have a reliable scavenge system/pump..

Re: Front Facing Low mounted Turbo Help Needed!!
ok soo I accomplished it! what I did is make a custom catch can -12 drain in from the top of the can and lower corner a -10 drain going to the scavenge pump, what was happening was the oil was going to the pump but not creating enough volume to actually "suck" it out it, oil was sitting in the hose connected to the pump bubbling not scavenging soooo a catch can IS needed for remotely low turbo set up's!!!
