Default Ebay intercooler vs Precision intercooler

Hello, does anyone have experience whit precision intercoolers..
Its because i bought a large Precision intercooler ( 750 hp air-air), insted of my ebay china intercooler ( large 600 x 30 x 75 )
Is the precision intercooler the last money worth ?
Kind Regards Daniel

The Precision intercooler has a much better core and will cool the air charge more thoroughly than the Ebay intercooler will. There was a large thread about the differences a while back. The main difference is that the Ebay intercoolers flowed air more quickly through them and therefore didnt cool the charge as much.

That's a pretty worthless blanket statement. And there is nothing magical about an intercooler; it's a bunch of fins with some end tanks. My ebay intercooler appears to have the same fin density as any Precision or Garrett core; it certainly won't flow more and cool less, as you're implying.

Ebay intercoolers are the one thing that people have had constant success with over the last 5 years. I would never consider paying for a Precision core when you can get the same exact thing on ebay for half price.

thats like stating an ebay turbo will flow as much as a garret or borg warner unit... completely false

ebay units are good for 300-400whp but after that is when you should consider upgrading to a precision/greddy/spearco unit (if your pushing that much power id hope you could afford to pay a little extra for the better core)

I'll take the precision IC over any ebay IC. But ebay IC still work really well too if you are on a budget.

When someone logs IAT's and the Precision/Garrett is significantly lower than an Ebay intercooler, i tend to believe that rather than your worthless babble. I'm glad the intercooler worked for you. I never once said it wouldnt work. I merely stated what was posted in the past thread.

The fact is, the Precision core flowed air slightly slower and thus cooled it better. The IAT's (intake air temps in case you're not up to date) were much lower which inevitably made more power more safely.

just because they are making the power doesnt mean they couldnt do it more efficiently with a better core

are there any test backing up the fact that name brand IC's get the job done better than ebay IC's??? just wondering, cuz im running an ebay intercooler...and for such a price difference, somebody on here has had to have done a comparison test...

Its like nobody reads anything i write

The reason there's such a price difference is because the Garrett/Precision cores are more tightly packed with fins which costs more to produce. Also, unlike the Ebay cores, Garrett/Precision put a little R&D into their products in order to have something that's better than average.

I'll never say you "can't" make 5,6,700whp with one of the Ebay intercoolers, but running a better quality core is going to be more efficient and make more power with the same boost.

Actually, it is NOTHING like comparing turbochargers. It's just a bunch of metal fins. There is nothing mechanical about it. Precision doesn't make better fins than anyone else. They're JUST FINS.

My "worthless babble" is pure, unbiased logic. Find a way to prove me wrong and I'll stop picking on you guys for being stupid and illogical. Until then, I'm going to trust my college education, which tells me that two blocks of metal with the SAME coefficient of thermal conductivity with the SAME surface area with the SAME fin density convect heat at equivalent rates.

Ebay does not make intercoolers. Other companies do. If ONE person in ONE thread made a post comparing their ONE brand of intercooler to a name-brand core, you can't exactly deduce anything conclusive about "ebay" intercoolers, now can you?

This ONE member's ebay intercooler had a lower fin density, so it cooled less and flowed more. Big expletiveing surprise. I've certainly seen some ebay cores that had rather minimal fin coverage. Buy you know what? That's what the big red button in the corner of the page is for. Certainly the "best ebay intercooler?" question has been asked and answered before.

i do believe there was a thread on here where a guy was having problem making power and switched from a chinese IC to a precision joint and picked up like 60+WHP

im all about ebay parts but to say chinese intercooler works just as good as a precision is a pretty dumb statement. the quality differences are night and day. look at the internal fins on a precision and compare it to a china IC. id be willing to put money on a simple IC swap from ebay to precision making more power.

the quality of a precison core V. a say...xspower or any other ebay brand is pretty obvious. precison cores have much better quality both cooling efficiency at the same ambient temp. and much less pressure drop through the core due to better internal design.

i gots tha ebay icooler, but its the biggest one on ebay, i dont kno the dimensions, but it cools very good, my hand almost sticks to the out-pipe, its soo cold.

Huh?

Your intercooler can't be any colder than the ambient air temperature if it's air to air.

ENOUGH of you retards making BULLSHIT statements. If you're stupid enough to buy into the "R&D" argument, that's fine - but don't spread misinformation. My $150 Chinese unit was very high quality:

And you get FLOW or COOLING. There is no magical efficiency that Spearco/Precision picks up by costing more. R&D does not bypass thermodynamics. Sorry.

As for the "shitty" fins in my "shitty" Chinese intercooler... well the picture speaks for itself. Perforated fins for maximum forced convection. An intercooler is a 2-way forced convection heat exchanger, therefore simple heat transfer tells us that Q = hAdT.

h = coefficient of heat transfer (constant)
dT = temperature differential (constant)
A = convective surface area (variable, dependent of fin density)

So what exactly sets the name brand products apart?! What's the basis of your argument? That name brand is better because it costs more? Fools, all of you. Go on and waste your money however you want, what do I care. Ignorance is bliss anyway.

More failed logic. Did any of you go to college?

We could "think about" all the aspects of these intercoolers all day long, but posting opinions and ideas doesn't exactly prove anything, does it...? I'm sure none of us are willing to do a molecular analysis of the fin material and study how the contaminants affect the aluminum's k value.

I'm sure you'd rather just assume the more expensive one is better than go through any of that anyway

ok smart ***, do us an intercooler test and prove us all wrong.

ebay intercoolers work great for most setups, but youre just fooling yourself if you dont think a precision core is better. it has nothing to do with price either.

Truth 1: Ebay intercoolers are good
Truth 2: Fast cars use good intercoolers

Deductive fallacy: All fast cars use ebay intercoolers

Look at me, I took logic 101 in college!

For the record, I'm defending logic, not ebay intercoolers. If anyone actually has some empirical evidence as to why my ebay intercooler sucks, I'll throw it in the trash and buy a Precision.
