yeah switch the inake manifold to a y8, but if you do that you might as well put a y8 head on there as well and do a mini me, also get a y8 tranny and you'd be ready to go.

There IS an intercooler... it's right in front of the turdblow.

That's kind-of an odd place for one, looks like it, though. You can run without one, but you'll wear out the turbo with the quickness, so basically, no.

It looks like one to me, but the placement isn't really that odd. Some people swear by mounting it to the intercooler.

I heard that the turbo lasts longer if its by the intercooler. I dont know why but im about to go turbo and all this info is really helpful to me. So is it better to go closer to the intercooler or is it just the same if its at the normal spot on the charge pipe?

To be honest with you everyone says something different. Lets be realistic if it was that bad to have to BOV on the intake arm we would know by now and everyone wouldn't have theirs there.

As far as the BOV is somewhere on the charge pipe and blowing off, you shouldn't have any problems especially if you are running low to moderate boost.

agreed, everyone has a different philosophy.
and yes that is my bov.. no the ic does not get too hot being that close to the turbo.. and yes the upper ic pipe is getting too warm, and there is a heat shield in the making.
oh, and as for the 4.9 fd. its accelerates fast as hell.

Never had a Turbo Y7 so...not sure what its like. I ran into the same question before i did my swap and i choose B18B cause i liked the possibilities it would give me. Up to you????</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ive got a CX which everybody knows that it doesnt get much weaker than that.
Therefore I am running a 75hp shot of Zex Nitrous with some extras, but I still get smoked in the quarter. That is why I need more POWER!!!!

As far as the BOV question here about placement, this is what it does. It keeps the pressurized pillar of air in the charge piping from slamming back into the turbine when the TB closes (hence, why auto car's don't necessarily need them). The closer you mount it to the turbo, the less air is shoved back into the rotating blades of the turbo (think about trying to grab a bike tire and spin it the opposite way when it's going 30mph). This helps to stop as much freeplay in the turbo.

i have zero experience with y7's but i've heard many of horror stories about d16y7/8 blocks spinning bearings....i read somewhere that the oil pump flows like 30% less than a z6......just a heads up man, good luck with the build

One of the things that hurts D16Y7's the most, is the tranny. Get something with shorter gears, and the car will instantly wake up
