Default Custom Radiator Support???

I have a question about a radiator support ...maybe someone has encountered this same problem....

Mainly looking for some pics of a race car..with a custom radiator support/brackets..

I cut the top radiator support for my manifold to fit..and the bottom one is coming out since its somewhat bent from an accident before i bought the car, meaning the downpipe doesnt have enough clearance....a custom bar type will be replacing it

So my question is how do you guys make the radiator stand strong? Maybe someone has some pics of some brackets made or whatnot....This isnt a complete daily driver, but i need to break in the motor and drive it once in a while, so running no rad isnt an option..

Only other concern is that my eg radiator cannot sit flush where they normally would be postioned, without running into my manifold. So i figured the radiator could sit maybe an inch or two closer to the tranny?

Any help or pics would be great...here are two that might help you visualize mounts or whatever...

^after i cut the top support

Thanks in advance..

ef don't have a lot of room. there are some pics of the lower mount i made in this link. i just used angle iron spaced so i could put 1/4rd radiator hose in between the steel and aluminum. works great.

The only thing to do is fabricate, it should not be hard with the proper equipment.

Ah, i see how the bottom was done....i was thinking that i would have to kinda turn it a bit.....you dont overheat any do u? I would think that it wouldnt make a huge difference if the radiator is twisted....

That looks pretty clean....i guess i might be able to make something like that.....how much did materials cost ya?

...topmount radiator? Besides that or twising&leaning it in there, I don't have a clue how else you'd pull that off.

The craziest thing I can think of is using an FMIC as the radiator (long filler neck so you don't have air in the block), and use an air-water intercooler right before your TB, with it's cooler where 'abnaasefmb' has his radiator. You may have to think outside the box for this one.

btw, wasn't the last time you posted a space issue about how you'd fit an intercooler in there?

^Yes, we got the IC figured out.....now i was just afraid of the radiator since i wasnt going to have a top or bottom support

But i did get a good idea....just wondering if anyone else thought of something too....or maybe had some more pics

what i did is, unbolt the center section rad support, and make to 2x3" tab's that will bolt onto the head light bucket, once you line them up, get a piece of 1" tube steel, cut to length in between the tabs, crush the ends flat in a press....and weld them up, mines strong as hell....i'm a metal worker and would be willing to make you one.

l: l---------l :l somethin like that...its a bolt in piece, if you have a traction bar setup, you can tie them into each other with more tube....much stronger....pm me if you want pics or need on made...looks bad ***
