smaller cams generally work better with turbo cars. 404s are NA high compression cams. call dave down at crower and have a talk with him & explain your goals. while cams are helpful on a turbo car, the tune and properly installing the turbo kit are your first priorities.

i think the highest horsepower LS guy used 404's on his setup.

I just bought a set and im gonna put them in a couple weeks to see how they perform.

Il post a thread on them once im done.

Yeah their prolly not as good as turbo specific cams but an LS needs help breathing so they'll perform better than stock cams. Not to mention that 404's sound great.

I have 404's in my turbo LS, theyre absolutely SICKKKKKKK!!!!!!! Never tried anyone elses cams but the 404's work!!! I made 370 whp on 14psi on a t3/t67 and then cracked the stock piston ringlands. The block was bone stock as well. Wouldnt have an LS any other way!!!!! And the idle is dangerous http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=1qDj3OLz4K0

Big cams with tons of overlap will do that, no matter who tunes it. They aren't like vtec cams, where the lowcam has much less overlap. Look into 'vtec killers' and other cars w/o any sort of timing advance system, they lope just the same at idle.

with cam gears you can give the motor what it wants depending on your turbo/manifold setup/EMP

thats what i mean.

reduce overlap, increase idle rpm.

would be much smoother.

he's idling at 600 it looks like.

I ran the 404's in my car as a daily driver. It idled near stock and made ~400whp on pump gas at like 15psi. Its all about the tune when making the car idle. My car went 11.5's on a 1.8 LS/ 404's on a 225 BFG a few years ago.

I've done a few cars with 404's. They've worked great on every setup. I had a car with Crower 402-T making horrible power. Only thing I could think of was the cams. So he switched to 404's. Only thing that changed was dyno'd on different days. Same dyno, same correction, etc. With the 402-T cams the car made 450whp. With the 404 cams the car made 529whp with less boost. I had the dyno sheet posted a while back but had taken it down. I will see if I can dig it up

After a lot of searching I found it. Runs were about two weeks apart. Same gear, same start rpm, etc.

I used to have Crower 62403's in my boosted b20 setup..Worked out VERY well, never got numbers but helped my b20 breathe up top where it usually lacks. I loved using them with my boosted setup. My 403s idled ~700 would drop down a little but not much.
