Core pics of the garret core? AKA the Precision intercooler.
I'm just wondering what the internal fin density looks like with the Garret cores.
Thanks!

Here's a pic I took a while back... It's a comparison between a Spearco and the Precision unit:

Thank you SO much for that pic. Exactly what I was looking for and more!

I don't understand. How can the spearco be more restrictive when it looks WAYYYY less dense than the precision. Can you explain? thanks.

I quote so the person knows I'm talking to him.
BTW, was it precsion or PWR that uses Garrett cores? I'm pretty sure its precision..

i dont know for sure but from the pics i noticed that the space between the bars is larger on the precision.????
definatly has alot more surface area..(on the fins)
are those pics scaled to the same size? the inlet/outlets are considerably different in size but if the spearco was enlarged it would be thick as hell..????

from the looks of it, garret(Left) will have better cooling efficiencey but with more restriction/pressure drop, the spearco wont have as much pressure drop, but with less efficient cooling - we're not talking 15 psi pressure drop or anything so dont go **** ur pants or anything
garret i have an AS1026 core w/ no endtanks on it, so if u want specific pics or anything lmk i'll try to go to take some

The Precision unit has 2.5" inlet/outlets and my old Spearco one is a 2.0" inlet/outlet. Both pics are taken at the same distance, so what you see is a direct comparison of both cores.
The Garrett is known to be higher flowing just because the passage ways are much wider or larger than the spearco in the inside... The Precision's core passages are about 1.5x the size of the spearco. The fins are dense in the Precision unit, but the larger passageways really make up for it. I got this data from an Australian Intercooler Core FAQ website a while back.

^^ I think so... But I couldn't find what a read from before, so maybe they updated the text, or it was another website.
The good 'ol intercooler basics tells us that it is better to have an intercooler that can drop intake temps which flows less (more pressure drop) then to have an IC that flows in and out right away and does nothing to cool the air...
I'd say be your own judge and see if the Precision core looks good to you. It can be higher flowing or not because I just got this info from a website with no flow data or any real life testing. Enough guys run them with success though so you can go by that as well
