From what I've researched, there was a small group working on something to make this work since the honda ecu is just a basic single output.. Something was in the works, I doubt it's gotten any further.

Re: coil pack and hondata?? (mike93eh2)
Could it have been using a FAST eDIST? This is a gadget that can run coil packs on all sorts of cars - I suspect you could use it on a bone stock Honda with no changes to the ECU at all.
The other possibility, which seems like it would be plausible but weird, would be if they took an external distributorless ignition module from an OBD-I Ford or GM product, and built an interface box to get the Hondata to talk to it. These are nearly self-contained ignitions, and they even have a limp home mode that lets them operate without interfacing with the stock ECU although the timing control is locked out. I could see somebody rigging a box to get a Honda ECU to talk to a GM DIS; a Ford module would be tougher to drive unless there's some feature of the Hondata that supports it.
Or, even weirder still, they might have put a separate ECU on it to control the ignition.
Unless this is something too new to be on Hondata's website...

I was actually just reading this article, and come on here looking for the same answers. Your best bet would be to try and find him here on H-T or e-mail him directly:

Re: (outtacontrolsol)
I played around with this back in 2003 with the FAST eDist. All you need is a cam position signal and a crank position signal and a DIS 2 or 4 and you can make it work. At that time I was trying to get it to work with FAST unit. You can simply use the factory distributor to get the signals. Some people make their own plate to block off the factory distributor cap. I never saw that article so I am not sure what exactly they are doing.
