well... its been a while since ive had a problem with my car... and now i have one. i was driving home when i heard a "pop" from my exhaust... idle became rough... then my car died shortly after. after several attempts to start it... it finally started again. parked it for 15 minutes. started car again... headed home. i was almost home and then my car bogged a few times... then it shut off. DAMMIT! it never started after that and we ended up pushing the car home.

i currently have 141,000+ miles on the b18b.

im thinkin it might be my ignition system:
-MSD digital 6+ gone bad
-stock rotor needs to be replaced
-spark plugs covered in oil (seal leaks) and wont ignite
-distributor has finally went bad

somethin might be wrong with my motor. what do you guys think?

Haha...That was funny. Anyways, Is there fuel going to the engine? Listen to see if your fuel pump is working....and let us know and we can probably help you out from there.

of course i have gas in my tank.

im sure it isnt a fuel problem. my inline fuel pump works.. i can hear it still buzzin when the power is on.

the thing is... the first time i did try to start it back up again... when i pressed on the gas, that was when the car shut off. might be the ignition not creating a spark causing the car to shut off i guess. im thinkin its an ignition problem.

anyone experience this problem?

yeah, sounds kinda like too much fuel. (and or not enough spark)
i know someone who had probs like that with his jrsc set up..turns out the fmu was not working right(and or broken) dumping **** loads of fuel in ...

check your spark gap. if thats fine change your plugs. might need to reset ecu too.

hey, i have that same problem. My car dies on me while I'm driving and sometimes just won't start up after I turn it off. I come back a few hours later and starts up like nothing ever happend...Some times after it dies, and i come back to start it up, it bogges down while driving. I check ignition and i wasn't getting any spark from it. I don't know if its my msd or not. I'm thinking my msd 6a wire connections are weak or bad.

hmmm i didnt think that the fmu might be a factor. at one point, i did smell fuel.. but i was thinkin it was because of my inline fuel pump being on the whole time i was pushing the car. im goin to work on the ignition tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. if not, then im goin to check the fmu. any suggestions on what to checkon when i inspect the fmu? i have not yet opened it so im new to what the insides look like.

Don't think it's the motor. What's your igntion setup? I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Unhooked my MSD 6A, replaced MSD external coil, installed externally tapped cap, OE rotor(everything had between 40K and 100K+ miles). Turned out to be a short from moving my battery Once in awhile though, my car would just die-like yours. I would suggest starting with the simple things first-especially if your wear/tear components haven't been changed recently-cap/rotor/plugs/wires. Sounds like your running a little RICH, too(bogging then dying)

ive never had problems with my engine bogging til the other day. it runs rich at higher rpms because of the whole fmu fuel setup. i have a msd digital 6+, blaster ss coil, msd cap, and oem wires. im thinkin it may be my rotor that went bad. im goin to test for spark and replace the rotor. see it helps.. if not, then im goin to take off the msd next. lets see how it goes from there...

dammit... i knew it! msd was the problem, as well as the rotor. the rotor was toast and the msd preventing my car from starting. i will never put a MSD unit in my car again!

uhmm...how did you know it was the msd. On my car is msd 6a, msd blaster coil 3, msd dis cap, msd spark plug wires, and zex nos/turbo spark plugs.(<--all still new and in good shape.) I've replace the rotor and still dies on me... The only reason why it boggs after the car starts up is because the car was dead and i kept trying to start it up, so the gas kept on coming into the motor every time i tried starting it.. When its dead theres no spark, so i'm still thinking its still a lose wire. Just that theres so many wires and i don't want to replace the wires... I also hooked up a ignition kill switch to my msd...It could be this also..

this same thing happened to me when i had a msd 6a in my acura legend. i replaced the rotor and tested for spark. it was all good. i decided to take off the MSD and hooked up the external coil to the stock ignition amp and BINGO! it started back up again. only thing was that there was hella white smoke from the engine. some oil leaks through the when i was replacing the spark plugs because of leaky seals. i replaced those too.

disconnect your msd 6s. hook up the external coil only. drive around and see if it helps. it might just work.

i have OEM wires. i think if it was shoddy... my car wouldnt start at all even with the stock ignition back into play.

my car did the same thing. i found a loose wire from the ignitor to my coil. i resecured the wire and no problems ever since. my ignition however is still all stock...

Define $hit. Is it totally dead or just bogging like hell?
Mine is still doing the same thing after I replaced everything and hooked/unhooked my MSD- But it's only after prolonged freeway driving and merging back into traffic. I'm suspecting it's because I'm running so Rich, or bad O2 sensor(cause of the excess Fuel) or ignitor, or combination of all Oh well, can't wait for my Zdyne.

well... ever since i took off the MSD Digital 6+ and replaced the rotor (burnt out), i got my car to start. i can drive it, but it bogs and stutters like a bitch. if i start the car to warm it up.. it will idle fine. then after a minute or two, it will bog. when i drive it, it bogs in the lower rpms. third gear bogs like i got a 2step revlimiter on.
pulled out my spark plugs and they were white (lean). replaced the spark plug wires and it didnt help. im thinkin its the o2sensor, map sensor, or fmu. im talkin to a friend right now and he thinks it might be the missing link. gotta check all this **** today. i just towed my car home.
