I acually had the front bushing wear enuf on my civic that it would pop out like he was describing... had a weighted ball that dident help matters but after changing out the bushings it held good... always good to start cheap and work your way up...

No harm it, for sure. I ALWAYS put in ES shifter bushings in these cars. Makes the shift feel a million times better. And its cheap... but I just think his problem is due to the shift forks worn. I have seen it many times.

I put in the shifter bushings tonight and it didn't fix my second gear problem. The more I drove the car and felt the issue the more I suspected it wouldn't. It did change the way the shifter feels for sure. Much more like a normal car instead of super smooth with no feel to it. Honestly I sorta liked that stock feel better. I've never had car with such a soft shifter before and it's sorta fun lol.
