Sorry if this sounds like a dumb *** question, but i am very curious. I raced a guy yesterday that had a Precision SC61 and open down pipe, his turbo was loud as hell when it was spooling up. It almost sounded like a big truck turbo. Is that just the SC61 being loud spooling or is it because he had the open downpipe?

^^^agreed. With an open down pipe, you'll be able to hear the turbo spooling even if you are just driving normally.

yeah with any turbo if the dp is opened you hear every single form of spool. on mine i heard it from 1500rpm till about 6k, anything past that it spiked like crazy cuz its internal wastegateso i didnt test it. but yes open dp= turbo very loud. oh and annoying

Hell yes (bold from above). I drove an open downpipe for about 5 blocks and said **** that, and put the rest of the exhaust back on.

the reason their looking over is because they think your muffler might have fallen off, not because they know you have a totally wicked woot woot turbo. sorry

I run open DP and love it. I can hear the turbo spinning even wehn i first crank the car up in the morning.

i think it only sounds cool to those that know what sound their looking for, the spooling sound is cool for like 2 blocks then the terrible sound and smell become overwhelming. you can always get a cutout if you can't decide which one u like better, then you dont have to remove cat/test pipe everytime you want to run open dp.

i'm running open 3 inch dp and it was fun for about an hournow i can't wait to get exhaust
