i use castrol gtx 10w-40. my car burns oil though, so for every oil change i use maybe 1/2 quart of lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer.

for anyone that has the money for a turbo, I would highly recomend using mobil 1 full synthetic. Most integras call for 5w30. Use that but put a quart of engine lucas in with it. It is a oil stabilizer that bonds to engine parts. Not like slick 50 BS but it works good. Will boost your oil pressure up a little bit and will run smoother. Garauntee!!!

I think Synthetic is too thin to use on a boosted car..since it is already so thin.

I'd love to hear the educated information to back this statement up.

synthetic is supposed to be more superior to conventional for high tems and breakdown. it is true if you take 2 differnt brand oils of same rated visc., their actual specs could vary but doesn't say anything about synthetic being thinner. nothing wrong with conventional but if you want a wide range multi visc oil like 15w50 or 5w40 (at least i coudln't find any conventional in that weight) you just have to go with synthetic.

so how often do you have to change oil on a turbo car? i know it runs under a hell of a lot more stress, i just want to know how often you to change at 5, 10, and about 15 psi..

I change mine after every track day or every 2k mi. Usually it gets changed before the 2K mi. mark though due to visits to the track. I'll never use Conventional oil again. First motor I ever used it in(other than break in) spun a rod bearing. I'm not blaming it directly on the oil but, the $2K+ mistake wasn't worth the few dollars I saved and peace of mind I lost.

the general rule is 2000k miles with full synthetic all the time and you are golden.

Oil passes through the bearing section that is 400+ degrees, conventional breaks down into a laquer film and cokes up your bearings much easier as it breaks down around 225* and synthetic is much better at ~275*

Same here.

I change my oil so much, there is no point in going to synthetic. If I had a $1,000+ ball bearing turbo, it might be a different story though...

changing your oil a lot is not going to keep if from breaking down inside your turbo

Regular oil won't break down that fast. Just because synthetic oil is better, doesn't mean regular oil is useless. I change my oil every 1000 miles, give or take a few, so regular Castrol GTX 10w30 will work fine. I'm sure if I had synthetic oil I could go twice as long or maybe even a little longer between oil cahnges, but I drive a honda, not a race car...
