Default anyone ever blown a copper head gasket?

I will try to make this as short as possible. I hooked up my profec B yesterday and hooked something up wrong because I spiked 16psi and started smoking bad. 3 of the 4 plugs were blew apart. I took the head off and the gasket on the #4 cylinder section was stretched, so it was now oblong shjaped instead of round, and the water jacket section of the gasket was messed up. This is where I was leaking coolant into the cylinder. So here are my questions:

I am going to have the head resurfaced, should I get as thick of a head gasket as I can get to lower the compression and run a little higher boost daily like 8 to 9?

On my profec black box where does each hose go (IN port and OUT port)

Do I need to adjust the wastegate so that it wants to bleed off at a lower psi or will the profec control that. The reason why I am asking is because I want the low setting at like 3-4 so I can launch the car at the track

Here is my setup:
Stock internals
ARP head studs
copper head gasket
Drag gen III
stock injectors
block guard
profec B

thanks guys

no it was not o-ringed. I dont want to make it too strong because I would rather replace the head gasket than rebuild the motor

I don't think you can use a copper gasket w/o having it O ringed.

What do you have for fuel ? Fuel pump, fmu, fpr, anything ? The profec B will not be able to set the boost any lower than what was present on the WG.

I have the drag gen III kit so 12:1 fmu and inline pump.
I didnt know if the profec would be able to control it any lower than what the WG could go thanks

copper headgaskets require an o-ring to keep it from egg shaping around the top of the cylinder.

take your head to a competant machine shop and have a stainless steel o-ring installed in it. they will know what to do. cost me 165 dollars. the best thing about this is no more blown headgaskets and it is reusable over and over

I actually o-ringed the block...but yeah it is a necessity for copper head gaskets...and make sure you coat with a good amount of Hylomar.

I dont know if they could...once they are crushed the seal isnt as good...its like that little crush washer for the oil pan bolt..I mean it will work if used over again...but will never seal at its maximum capacity.
