Default Any TD05HR-16G turbo users?

Hey guys.
Im collecting some parts for a new turbo project I've got on the go. I used to have a 93 Civic coupe with a B16. It had a turbonetics kit, LS trans, hondata s200. It was a decent setup but I felt it was pretty laggy. Boost would start building at about 4, and full boost by about 6 or so. The car felt like it ran out of steam with the LS trans as well.

The car I have now is just a regular old plain jane 91 Civic hatchback. It used to be automatic DPFI D15, I swapped in a B20Z, and swapped in a S4C from a 99 Civic SiR I bought for parts.

I just recently won an auction on ebay for a TD05HR-16G-9.8t from a Evolution 8 lancer and my plan is to put it on my B20. (I also have the B16 from the SiR, but that will be a future deal.)

I don't want anything crazy..my last car made 280 but felt super gutless with the LS. I would like to make 260 on the B20, could care less about putting head studs and rod bolts into it, will be keeping stock redline and what not.

--I was just wondering if anyone is currently using this turbo in their setup. I like the idea behind this turbo being that it's twin scroll, should be fun with a quick spool, B20Z, and the short geared s4c. I bought a turbo that has a tubular manifold already for the evo
(http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-04-LANCER...f81ce1&vxp=mtr) and I was hoping to buy a B series stainless (blox?) flange and just modify the existing tubular manifold the turbo is coming with. Alternatively if anyone can suggest a fairly cost effective manifold that a company already manufactures please mention it.

Lastly, if you are running it please let me know what you think about it. Does the turbo support your horsepower goals? how is the spool time and which motor do you have? thanks

i recently purchased a 2005 evo 8 which comes with the 10.5 hotside. i also had the idea of modifying an existing manifold although was told by several fabricators that it would not be worth it and to just get one made. But logic tells me it’s possible. I am going custom route

I cant really tell you how it runs because I haven’t completed my build yet, and there is so little data for this set up in true twin scroll fashion.

You would pair 1 &4 and 2&3 for proper twin scroll action. I'm putting this turbo on a d16.

I have one for my ls/VTEC build but you really want the 10.5 single flapper hot side

You'll need a divided manifold to truly get the full benefit of the turbo

And its proper designation is td05hra-16g6... its a reverse rotation turbo, hence the a designation

B16 builds have seen 325+whp with the turbo, but with the 9.8 hot side top end will fall off a bit

You can't use the evo manifold... the cylinder spacing is too far off to fit our heads without significant fabrication... you'll save time and money by having a purpose built manifold made

They seem to run out of top end our shop car made 370ish and runs full weight with car seats 4dr teg 11.5s wouldn't make more power on the top due to the flow up there. On a d they sing for sure.

I was kind of thinking that as well, should be great for the B20 but it will probably fall off a bit with the B16, I wasn't anticipating pushing too much past stock redline of either motor so we'll see how it works out. I think this setup should be much faster than my previous B16 setup on my old car, even with much less power

Wantboost have you heard of anyone that manufactures manifolds for this setup? I had found one company turbinetech I believe it was but if I remember correctly the runners were paired wrong

There's a guy on here that makes them, I'll try to remember who it is.

The compressor wheel is only good for about 370, its only a big 16g.... most evo people use the stock turbo but with a 20g wheel and housing, I've seen good results with those on Honda based apps too

We do! I had one on my Crx with a ls and a Gsr shop car. We made manifold for both. With the evo housing and used both gates or the one on 10.5

I figured out the guy that makes them..his name is CTDfab and has last been active in 2011. There is another company race-tech in the UK that makes a kit as well but the manifold itself, they want around 1000+shipping. Im looking to keep it at somewhat of a budget by either making the evo tubular manifold work or having someone make one. I have kind of thought about having someone modify a ramhorn as well. We'll see just how far off the evo manifold is when it gets here i suppose

Nah, they price in british pounds..the price you see is double when you convert to US/Canadian dollars I had emailed them about a price for the manifold alone. They had told me 600 pounds. The car that it will be going into currently has an RMF narrow, with the stock crossmember I had clearenced with a stock rad, however I plan on getting a traction bar setup with a half-rad..no a/c or ps. do you have any pictures of your cars you run the td05hr on?

I used a TD05-16G 9.8 of evo 8 on my B16A1, I can say that it is the best turbo for this engine, I tried many of the other one..
check the dyno graph:

the thead of my car with the complete setup:
