Default Turbo compressor housing o-ring missing...

Helping a buddy with a turbo problem and he was gettin massive boost leaks around the compressor housing. Well come to find out, when they changed to the optional polished housing they forgot to install the big o-ring seal??!! Wtf!!! I was wondering if it would be ok to use some high temp silicone or copperseal instead of the o-ring since we cannot locate it anywhere?

yes, you can, though it needs to be used sparingly. It's not the cleanest or coolest way to do it, but it can work. Just make sure it isn't leaking behind the backplate and the cartridge.

I just knew the Shodan would *** to my rescue haha. Shodan I used copperseal rtv (the Permatex stuff in the gold tube) last night and did a leak test about 10 mins ago and it did make a noticeable difference ie. my boost gauge went up faster but then I sprayed the soapy water and see it was bubbling from two of the bolts so I used some threadtape on the bolts and it has stopped bubbling / leaking anywhere now!

So to do this the right way I need that big o-ring right? How can I get it? What about the shiny housing bolts - are those ok with the white teflon tape?
