1" Score on top of Cylinder 2, catches fingernail
While i Held the ring compressor my friend (who aslo put on the rings and positioned them as well) was tapping in the piston assembly into the bore of my fresh 81.5mm GSR. It wasnt going in so he hammered the crap out of it, I shoulda said something but I didnt because the others went in fine.
It finally went in but siezed, we pulled it out and one of the oil control rings bent in 2 places and scored the wall. I took scotch brite to it and it cleaned up, then I re-hond it with a drill.
You can't feel the score with your finger, but it catches the fingernail and you can see it. It runs 1" vertically along the very top of the bore. Wtf do i do?
Please dont say any comments about the retarded friend, whats done is done and I just want to know wtf can I do? Will it clean up if my machinist re-hones? or Does it have to be bored?

Re: 1" Score on top of Cylinder 2, catches fingernail (B18C Turbo)
MOst likely needs a really good hone on a machine not just a drill hone. WOrst case is a very very light amount of boring and a rehone but i dont think you will need a larger sized piston. Get alot of opinions on this one though

Re: (B18C Turbo)
if you manage to properly install that piston with new rings that one cylinder may burn a little oil.
obviously the proper way to fix it is to:
1. not let your friend help you assemble that engine and kick him in the nuts
2. take the engine to a machine shop and have them properly hone it out and measure the bores after.
