How many Honda owners does it take to change a headlight bulb?
Just one, but with a lot of cursing
Does anyone else find it a pain to change the headlight bulbs?
One went out of my used civic 2005 and luckly I keep a 32inch tool box in my trunk.
Its a royal pain to take out the three screws without a flexible screw driver or an angled screw driver.
Why do they hide it in there? Don't they know bulbs burn out every six months?
And the front turn signal bulbs! Forget it! I had to remove part of the frame.
In my old car, it took me a few minutes.

Hey everyone, two problems i'm experiencing right now, wondered if anyone has any advice

1) This happened once or twice last winter, and then never again during the dry summer. Now it's starting up again. When I'm driving in really, really wet conditions, lots of water on the road, I have a pretty obnoxious sound intermittently coming from one of my front wheels (passenger thinks its driver wheel, driver thinks its passenger wheel). It definitely isn't correlated with engine speed, but seems to follow wheel speed somewhat. That said, I can't make it happen on purpose. It's kind of a grinding sound, pretty hard to explain. That or it's water getting in somewhere it shouldn't - thinking that because it ONLY happens on wet roads. Any ideas? CV's? Could it just be something to do with the wheel well and be harmless?

2) A problem I saw a few results on from searching regarding stiff shifting - didn't see any replies saying that the suggestions helped so I thought i'd ask again. Shifting the manual tranny got very difficult the other day, and hasn't improved with the bit of driving i've been doing. If i go from 1-2, or 2-3, it's very stiff, as if i'm working against some good resistance. (same goes for downshifting, and i had the manual transmission fuel changed at honda dealership about 12k miles ago). If I go from 1-N-2, or 2-N-left-3, the problem is reduced quite a bit. So, anyone have positive results with just lubricating the shift linkage and/or bushing below? Anything specific to lubricate it with? Should I flush and fill tranny fluid again?

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

My wife has an 01 Civic EX coupe. I've been doing the maintenance on the car for the past several years and I manually reset the Maintenance Req'd light when it comes on. However, this time it refuses to reset.

I hold the button down, turn the key to position II, wait a few seconds. The light goes out but then it immediately comes back on.

It's had this problem for many months but I don't look at it every day like my wife does. She no longer even notices it. But I would like to take care of it if anyone can help out.

I don't have an OBDII scanner, but I figure that it would probably throw a CEL if it was something serious. She gets 38 mpg mixed driving and it passes the smog test which is an OBDII scan.

My civic has started to act wierd lately. while driving suddenly it seems like speed is locked at 35 to 40 mph.

pressing accelerator doesnt work, rev dont go higher than 3500. and speed sticks under 35 to 40.

i have tried changing gears, everything works as normal but just speed and rev dont go higher than above....

to get back to normal i have to turn engine off and turn back on after 2 to 3 min, turning back on straight doesnt help...

car has done this about 7 to 8 times in a month now...

any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
K

--------------------------------------------
17:00 BST: I went to city and car did the same thing again but this time engine managment line came on... I turned car off and back on and it hasnt done after that but now engine managment light is constantly on...
--------------------------------------------
20:00 BST : i went out now and drove perfectly, no engine managment light at all... on my way back i though to test what speed will engine managment light shows...

i drove under 40 and all was fine, as i speed above 50 suddenly engine managment light came up. car didnt slow down or anything... i tried to speedup more and it worked perfectly... engine managment light only goes off if car is off for 20 or more minutes.

Hi!

so my 2001 Civic LX auto has recently run into a case of a shitty transmission. It's not getting into gear/slips real bad. P0730 and P0740 came up, which suggests to me a bad tcc...

Not really wanting to deal with diagnosing a trans/tcc that I know is shit and will cost me tons of money. I'd rather just swap it to a manual and be done with it.

I'm just wondering what I will need to make this a complete swap.
-transmission(best one to use? stock d17a1)
-PCM
-rad
-pedal assembly
-shifter
-cmc
-same mounts??
etc??
???

Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

hi, I'm brand new to Honda tech. I have a d17a2, and yes I'm sticking with it. I just ordered the crower valve train(stage 2 cam). I was wondering if anyone else had done this already, and what kind of proven gains did they get. I already have full d17a1(dx) exhaust, cold air, clutch and flywheel, solid motor mounts, k20 injectors, and ralco rz pulleys.

Now for all of you out there that are going to tell me to go the the k20 or put my motor choice down, I don't want hear from you. I'm out to prove a point. my buddy spent 14000$(Canadian) on his k20 swap. I've done my research(this is some of it) and I'm GOING to prove to him that the d17 isn't that bad.

Thanks for your opinions.
