P28 vs P06: Any advantages for Hondata?
Is there any advantage to having a P28 over a P06 ECU? Going with the s100 and I know that with Crome and other programs you have to add VTEC to the P06. Is this necessary with the s100 or is installation exactly the same on both? Does the s100 take care of that on its own?

Adding VTEC has nothing to do with the software you're using. It simply allows a P06 to output the VTEC signal i.e. become a VTEC ECU. A converted P06 is cheaper than a P28 and should function just as well.

I thought pretty much all OBD1 Honda ECUs were the same as far as chipping. Adding VTEC involves adding a S5151 transistor and maybe other stuff. I'm trying to find exactly what's needed so I can order a ton of the stuff really cheap and sell kits here for like $5.

I called Hondata today. They said that the transistor must be added to the P06 for s100 models. The s300 has its own VTEC output, so if this answers anyone else's concerns, may they be laid to rest!
With that being said, I picked up a P28-A02 locally today for $60 so I'm ready to go!
