Default b20vtech HELP!!!

hey there, i have a b20vtech... the guy who built it was running a hose with a valve and air filter off the intake manifold to control the idle, and running a hose from the nipple off the valve cover into the shortram intake i have... i was wondering, is there supposed to be a breather box? is the way it is now going to cause any problems? i have seen write ups that say i am supposed to run hoses from the two holes in the back of the engine block into a breather box and then run the hose from the intake manni and the valve cover into it as well.... i asked him and he said this wouldnt work.... right now i just put a pcv valve from the valve cover nipple to the intake mannifold instead of the way he had it.... its a b20b with a 94 gsr head thanks.....

1. A valve and air filter off the intake manifold will not help you control your idle. Maybe your explaining this wrong...got a pic?

2. A hose from the nipple of the valve cover into the short ram intake is just rerouting the stock blow by that would generally find its way back into the intake manifold. Just make sure that there is a fine mesh or "000+" steel wool covering the nipple side of the valve cover within that hose. Running a PVC valve like you are now is like capping off the nipple and the access port on short ram.
