06 TSX MT. K20Z3 VTC wheel and Hondata reflash questions.
I have a 06 TSX MT tech. It's my DD and currently just has an Injen CAI. It has the stock K24A2 engine.
I have acquired a K20Z3 complete head...which I believe has the 50 degree VTC gear.
I know that people warn against anything beyond 45 degrees on a K24A2. I'm going to be sending off my ECU in a week or 2 to get reflashed by Hondata.
I'm assuming that the tune controls the VTC, and that the reflash has enough available parameters to control the VTC angle safely and to make extra power with the larger advance degree.
I can't find anything online to show whether or not the Reflash and the 50 degree VTC gear work well together. I know that optimally, you'd want a race header and a larger exhaust...which I'm 100% for sure not going to do.
I have the 06, so it has the slightly larger header/exhaust tubing. The only bolt on will be the Injen CAI.
I will be doing the labor of installing the gear myself. So the cost to install the gear is really...a sandwich and a bag of crisps.
Thanks for any input!

The Reflash is for Stock VTC (25). There is no hondata reflash for 50vtc. You need to buy a tuning solution (Flashpro with 07-08 ECU or Ktuner TSX ECU).

I'd recommend against going with a reflash with the 50 degree gear. You are basically stuck with the reflash settings even if they aren't ideal for your setup. KTuner End User with the replacement TSX ECU is much better. Your tuner can tune for YOUR car as it operates rather than just reflashing based on another vehicle. Plus, you can change your tune settings whenever you want instead of sending the ECU off to be reflashed again.
Here's a complete KTuner ECU package: KTuner / 04-06 Acura TSX ECU Package. This also lets you keep your stock ECU for smog/etc...
