Default HP laptop turns on for 4 seconds then shuts off!

So I have an HP pavillion dv6700 laptop. When i press the power button, all the led's come on and the fans start spinning. Then it just shuts off after about 4 seconds. My guess is its either the power supply or the motherboard. Any inpt would be appreciated.
thanks

Reset the ram first and see if that helps

Pull out the battery and remove external power then press power button a few times, then reinsert power cable and try to power on.

I figured it was the mother board. I didn't think I would get away with something cheap!
